I think some sites do have paid streams though. Those aren't free.

But stuff made by other users via stuff like SHOUTCast Server and such are. I mean I could put up my whole Winamp list and give you my IP @ port 8000 and it would play back what I have (at a set kbps/Khz, that is; it eats my bandwidth as well).

Cool. I've started watching them and they have some good stuff on there. Family Guy, The simpsons , smileville etc. They all strem pretty good. Do they get anything for doing this?

Yeah, it's absolutely free. If a stream's listed in the Media Library, then it's fair game. Mind you, I've never checked any of them out, but they wouldn't be there if you required a fee to listen to them.

You are talking about the list of things you can watch available from the item in the Media Library, right? As far as I know, that's free. Back when we still had an internet connection at home, I tried to watch some stuff on it, but I didn't wait long enough for anything to load

I imagine that if it wasn't free, you'd be prompted to somehow send money to whatever place you were trying to watch a program from, as you are with most other things on the internet that require you to pay before getting what you're after.

I'm not sure what version of Winamp this post on another forum is talking about, but it does specify that the person is watching something for free

Is it free to watch tv on winamp, like using Shoutcasst TV and Aol video?
