Speaking of Cobain, can some1 explain these Chili Peppers lyrics in Californication: ...And Cobain, can you hear the Spheres singin' songs from station to station?... Don't know if it's 100% accurate, but that's what I heard. |

Nirvana was an amazing band. I do, and probably always will look upon Kurt Cobain as my idle...
One thing though... I'm almost certain it was the 5th of april that he died on... 'twas all in the newspapers on the 5th, and I remember it because of it being my birthday too ... |

Yeah, sorry that that happened. People also told me that his wife had murdered him as well. A lot of my friends love Nirvana, but I still have yet to listen to their music. I don't really listen to "real" music by bands and stuff but like video game music. Maybe I'll check out their stuff though. |

It's not smooth, and it was done for a reason.
what i meant was that he wasn't looked up to for his guitaring, it's his ability to write music.
and yes i've heard tourette's, nothing special imo. |

I used to think it was suicide...but then I saw this program on NBC's Dateline...and if it was murder, I wouldn't be surprised. |

Actually I don't know too much about Kurt Cobain and his music. I've heard a couple of songs and stuff and I thought they were good. I'm not sure whether he committed suicide or was mudered. I haven't heard what people said put he does have good music |

Well, he was more than just the vocalist. He was also primary songwriter (wrote most of the songs himself), and played the guitar. |

I really like Nirvana's music, although I only got into most of it this year. It just has this quality to it.. Anyway, since our school has a uniform policy (!) no one could wear shirts n stuff like that. Im sure a lot of the more 'musical' kids would have commemorated his death or something though. |

Your mother cried? I can't imagine crying over a musician's death, unless you, y'know, knew him or her personally.
Nirvana stands as my favorite band of all time. The music still stands out as so much greater than everything coming out now.
Let's see... Great bands and artists that have come out with debut full-length releases starting from present day and dating back to 1994 (Kurt, and Nirvana's, death [obviously it was a suicide, as months prior to that he'd threatened and even attempted suicide a few times]), listing firstly the date for each that their debut came out, and also the year that their latest album was released (some dates may be off):
- The Darkness (2003) - The Mars Volta (2003) - SikTh (2003) - Between the Buried and Me (2002 ; 2003) - Coheed and Cambria (2002 ; 2003) - Slick Idiot (2002) - The Streets (2002) - dredg (2001 ; 2002) - ohGr (2001 ; 2003) - Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (2001) - Telefon Tel Aviv (2001 ; 2004) - tweaker (2001 ; 2004) - Disturbed (2000 ; 2002) - A Perfect Circle (2000 ; 2003) - The Dillinger Escape Plan (1999 ; 2000) - Static-X (1999 ; 2003) - Air (1998 ; 2004) - ...and Oceans (1998 ; 2002) - cEvin Key (1998 ; 2003) - Cave In (1998 ; 2003) - Rob Dougan (1998) - Children of Bodom (1998 or sooner ; 2003) - Devin Townsend (1997 ; 2003) - h3llb3nt (1996 ; 2001) - Psychotica (1996 ; 2003) - Acumen Nation (1995 ; 2003) - Botch (1995, I think ; 2000) - Download (1995 ; 2000) - haloblack (1995 ; 2004) - Nile (1995 ; 2002) - Opeth (1995 ; 2003) - Strapping Young Lad (1995 ; 2003) - Rammstein (1994 or 1995 ; 2001) - Bile (1994 ; 2002) - Chemlab (1994 ; 2004) - Cradle of Filth (1994 ; 2003) - Demilich (1994)
And there are more. All of these are bands that I find to be better than Nirvana (although I do love the album In Utero and would listen to it over, say, Acumen, or APC, Slick Idiot, and Bile, but the rest have put out better albums than In Utero). To say that anything that's come out today is bad (that's not really what you said, but I assume it's what you mean) is just wrong. There's lots of music to be listened to all around. You just gotta find it, and it's actually not that hard to do so. But there's probably tons of unsigned bands and bands on small labels that are real excellent yet don't get heard.
Good music exists today. |

Anyway, being a Cobain fan, today stood out in my mind. Sure, it's a loss, but he still has his legacy... |

Nirvana killed hairmetal and for that I'm not a nirvana fan. However its a shame he desided to take his own life, a little overrated but still a good musician. |

It's the nutcases that think Courtney Love killed him |
