No, I don't think there are any screen modes where layer 3 uses anything other than 2bpp. Based on the documents I've seen, anyway.

And 3bpp isn't even supported by the hardware, AFAIK. SMW converts it to 4bpp so it can be displayed.

Can Layer 3 Gfx be changed to 3bpp or 4bpp?
The only reason I'm asking is because I have not come across any Snes game that uses Gfx that are higher than 2bpp for Layer 3. Not even the Layer 3 Backgrounds in Donkey Kong Country (the first Factory Level is a good example of this, the Layer 3 BG is it's main and only BG in that level).

okay thanks I understand now! I didn't notice that I was overwriting the Map16.bin files before so I have to redownload some stuff. Thtas why they would never work! Thanks!!

At 1st insert the ExGFX, then the levels are all screwed up, but that's normal.
Then you insert the GFX and voila the levels aren't screwed up anymore.
Now you have to pick up which 8x8 tiles will be your 16x16 tile.
I hope you understand.

Honestly, I think its you. You are probably looking at the wrong screen or something. Make sure you load the Map16.bin files onto a blank page. Dont look at the 8x8 thing and say it is messed up because it always will

How would I do that? Im new to this stuff so I don't know a whole lot about putting GFX in and that kind of stuff.

Hmm...seems to be their fault. I know that my 3D Forest is 4pp, so should anything else with "included" palletes. The only real thing I can think of is to load up a new ROM with 3pp graphics and load the ExGFX into that. Then, change the GFX to 4pp, and if necessary, import the levels from the old hack.

I have downloaded all the ExGFX from this site CLICK HERE
They are named ExGFX80 and above and are in the ExGFX folder. I can insert them but the graphics are messy. The GFX are 4bpp and the ExGFX are 3bpp. they don't automatically change. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Should do it automatically, but you should also immediatly do the same for the ExGFX. If the GFX is inserted as 4pp and the ExGFX 3pp (or vise versa), it will mess up the graphics! Remember, you want to insert the GFX, the shared graphics, not the ExGFX, the extra graphics.

How do I change 3bpp (I think thats what its called) to 4bpp? The game tells me to extract and then input them back in, which is what I do, and it still messes up my GFX. Any help on this would be great. thanks
