They barely mention much of Linux... I was reading the article to see what it says about it.

It is funny that Sun sees Linux as a threat. I'd expect them to understand the GNU's morals. After all, their own office suite, StarOffice (based upon the OpenOffice.org code), follows the same morals. It too can be copied and modified freely.

Onthe other hand, it's easy to see Microsoft fearing Linux. Hey, the Linux community was able to make a complete UNIX clone in 9 years. Something that UNIX took 25 years to do. And Microsoft is behind of UNIX, and already Linux has surpassed the UNIX of 1994 (when Linux 1.0 came out) into version 2.4 (although UNIX has caught on). Windows XP does not improve on the previous NTs. That's why its internal version number is 5.1 (Windows 2000 is 5.0). MS is behind the game by at least 5 years already. (This is just the OS' capibilities itself. Other areas like Imaging (bought from Wang industries) are further behind.)
... and so ends my post ...

I don't smell anything for two reasons:
1: I smoke too much to smell anything ever.
2: All the article says is that Sun and Microsoft products will work bettar together in order to provide incentive to stick with Sun and MS systems. Nothing to complain about.

Sun is having financial trouble. In time of crisis, you seldom have to forge alliances with the enemies.
