Well I went to a gameshop called rhino's and I bought a brand new copy of metroid prime for 7.99, and no it is not used! this joker is brand new I asked them how much would a brand new gamecube would cost me they said I could get one for 79.99 or a used one for for 52.00 dollars I reserved a new gamecube for 79.00 I told them that as soon as I got a refund from my book voucher at tech school that I would go ahead and buy one. I've delt with rhino games for 2 years and they have never BS me about anything plus they know what I like and expect top quality from them. I also picked up metroid 1 for GBA its been quite a long time since I had a real legal copy of it, I also got that one for 12.99 .

I need to ask you guy's a question where can I go to find Metroid 2 return of samus ? I have looked all over augusta and can't find jack s***! and please don't tell me to try ebay because I don't trust some of the dealers there that sell video games on ebay....

Thanks for all your help and giving me your suggestions.

Erm... Your just now buying a GameCube? The next generation systems are right around the corner, just to let you know... Revolution will play GameCube games. Well, anyways, yeah. I've played Metroid Prime for about 20 minutes, and its worth it. Get a guide or look one up on the net, though.

Metroid Prime is simply one of the best games, period.

Metroid Prime is actually one of the only games that can challenge the almighty SSBM.

If that doesn't convaince you, then think:

Legend of Zelda battle system + classic Metroid exploration + largest and toughest bosses ever (I actually consider the Metroid Prime serie to have THE hardest bosses ever seen in a video game... and I'm not joking!) + Hard mode that is actually harder enough to warrant a second play + even if Hard mode wasn't hard enough, know that the game is fun enough that you'll replay! + 20 hours of gameplay at least on your first run + at least 35 hours if you're seeking out everything + lots of other extras like in every good recent game + I REALLY need to include more stuff?

Anyway, if you have a gamecube, buy this game now.
If you don't have a gamecube, buy a gamecube and then buy this game.

That's how good it is. It's one of those games that you buy a console solely for it.

NOTE: Altought Metroid Prime 2 got a multiplayer mode, don't be fooled. The multiplayer mode is merely a gimmick. If you're looking for multiplayer Metroid, wait until Metroid Hunters. Metroid Prime 2 doesn't need a multiplayer mode anyway. It's Metroid Prime 1 enhanced. Who cares if it's not revolutionnary? The game is just more of the same... and in Metroid Prime 2's case, it felt just as fresh and fun as in the first game.

All in all... I repeat:

Buy Metroid Prime... NOW!...

NOTE #2: I consider Metroid Prime to be an adventure game. The closest comparison I have is: a 3D Legend of Zelda in space where the camera is in the hero's eyes with classic Metroid elements blended perfectly to the mix.

I haven't beaten it either but that's because I can't get past a certain area which is pretty early (not the first level... :\) on in the game, I think. Basically whenever I try it I get so close to the end and then poof.

But for $20, it's an excellent deal. It's definitely not a FPS.

I edited the thread title to include the name of the game. In my experience, people are more likely to look at threads if they know exactly what they're about, so hopefully you'll get some more opinions.

As far as my opinion goes...as someone who loved Super Metroid and enjoyed the original (though I never beat it) and was skeptical about Metroid from a first-person perspective, I thought that what I played of Prime (never had time to beat that, either) was great. The game doesn't play like Quake in outer space, which is what I'd feared. It has an emphasis on exploring, and the first-person view is used excellently. It enhances the combat by allowing you to aim manually as well as lock onto bad guys, and it provides an immersive experience that feels like it belongs perfectly in the series. You're encouraged to scan everything you can to get many bits and pieces of information that tell you more about your environment and reveal what's going on. And there is lots of fun third-person ball rolling.

Dude, SSBM isn't a rental. It's a guranteed buy... especially if you have friends around who play with you. It's single player part is decent but it's Multiplayer where it shines.

If you're getting a Gamecube, check out Super Smash Bros. Melee and Resident Evil 4... two very, very excellent games. Even if they're just rentals, it's still worth checking them out.

Yeah, it was about 80$ here when it was new, and I bought it. Definitly worth it.

European prices still suck, though.

I think it would be more of the opposite than anything.

I should have a pretty new copy, as I have the Platinum edition of Metroid Prime. It's PAL too...

Bought it for five days ago for 42 dollars (and that's bargain price for a game here!), I hadn't played that much but as far I gotten I say it's definatly worth it. And I never seen any freezing.

Never froze on me. Go for it, it's quite fun, and is pretty good for a first-person perspective of the Metroid world.

Ok then, the reason why I was asking to buy Metroid prime because I know of a major game shop in my home town is offering a new factory sealed version of metroid prime for 20.00 bucks also they have 2 zelda games I've been wanting, Zelda the four swords adventure plus the legend of zelda ocarina of time my original cartrige is getting ready to give up on me.....

But thanks alot for your help and I'll be sure to check out those game's you just refered me to.

But other than that happening very rarly, I find this game perfect. I say buy it.

Xeomega: It is now $20. They lowered the price.

I know. But to blunt, I was basically saying that, since the game is worth $50 in my opinion, if you do not pick it up for $20, you're an idiot.

Just a warning. I've had, in the past, problems with MP freezing on me.

Aside from that and my typical suckage at Metroid games, it's a good game.

And if you like Zelda, you would be a fool not to pick up the Collector's Edition (if you can find it). That one disc was the only game I had when I first got my Cube, and it lasted for at least a month and a half.

I just have to ask ... where in the world have you been?

Metroid Prime is not worth $20, it's worth $50. Metroid Prime alone is a reason to own a Gamecube. If you're a fan of getting 100% in Metroid games, then expect a good 15-20 hours with this game. Even beyond that, if you enjoy this game (which I'm not sure how you can't) you'd probably go through the game multiple times, on Hard Mode, and so on.

The setting, music, and graphics in this game are incredible. This game did something that not most games do in this day for me, it made me feel like a kid. It brought back that feeling I used to have while playing games when I was 5 years old, it was great.

Metroid Prime gets a 10 out of 10 from me. Metroid Prime 2 is also worth checking out, although not as good as the original in my opinion, it's still worth buying, and still an incredible experience.

And you should definitely pick up the OoT + Master Quest disc, if you can find it, and the Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition disc, if you can find that also.

Today when I get out of class I am thinking about getting metroid prime for the game cube but the thing is need to know if it will be worth spending at least 20.00 dollars for it, don't get me wrong I love all the metroid series, and I'm a collector of metroid, mario, and zelda games and I wanted to get this and see if I like this. also should I get a zelda to go with it ?

On july 6 I will get a nintendo gamecube will this be worth it or not ?

thanks
