I'm sure some TV station here will show Live 8. Actually, the report is CTV, and I would HOPE they'd just do an all-day broadcast from London/Toronto/Philly/everywhere... but who knows.

Bills for the new concerts should be announced tomorrow although Toronto organizers might be holding off until Tuesday... we're kinda pressed for time, really. :\ I think Geldof just dumped this on our laps without any time to prepare. We're rumored - that's all it is right now - to have the Stones on the bill. Maybe we can grab some of the acts that couldn't get into London too...

Yep, the only way you'd get tickets for Live 8 was by texting a number. They recieved 70 million texts, and 75,000 people got a pair of tickets, so the chances of someone say on this very board not to far away from here getting tickets would be astronomical right?
Well you'd think so

It's not going to be in Ottawa - they wanted to use Parliament Hill and were told that it couldn't hold 150,000 people.

Actually, it's a done deal with Canada - the announcement will be made tomorrow, and it's LIKELY going to be in Toronto. I'm holding out hope for Montreal but I'm not that optimistic.
Yeah, I read something about a pontential show in Ottawa. Too bad that's STILL to far away from me.

I think that most of them are free... BUT for this London concert, you needed to enter some sort of text-messaging contest, which ended earlier this week.

And we're not quite done yet with Live 8 concerts - Canada, Russia and Japan will likely all get their own concerts. Actually, it's a done deal with Canada - the announcement will be made tomorrow, and it's LIKELY going to be in Toronto. I'm holding out hope for Montreal but I'm not that optimistic.

And since they will be in Canada at that time to practice for their upcoming tour, it's been strongly speculated that the Rolling Stones will be our headliner.

^ Pink Floyd fans of the world....................................^.and Legion

Seriously, I had written off this ever happening maybe five years ago. If this isn't a hoax its a damn shame b/c I have no idea where I'm gonna scrape together money to go see it. I hope they come to US and do it at least once as well.

Fucking WORD. I've literally dreamed about a moment like this and I don't think I'll be able to fly to London to see it.

Neither will I, unfortunatly... HOWEVER... I do believe that there will be live streams on AOL, perhaps television broadcasts, and I've read (unconfirmed) that there will be a DVD release.

A world tour would be great... They could tie it in to the 30th Anniversary of WYWH.

Half an hour thats not that long. They need two hours or more. They have been around since the 70's. Give them credit.

They've now listed Pink Floyd as performers on the Live 8 website.
Quote from OCRemix thread:

I mentioned this concert to my friend recently.
In response, my friend wrote:
but the atmosphere for a five mile radius will be WEED

I like the song "Another Brick in the Wall," and why should the band not play it? Since it's somewhat the band's signature song, it is likely that you will hear the song.

I do like some of their other songs though. "Hey You" and "Money," for example.

-One Of These Days
-Celestial Voices
-Hey You

and please, no Another Brick In The Wall part 2 just coz it is considered by 90% of people who dont know their entire catalogue as their best 'hit'
