And the best tools for the job, or at least the best tools for me thus far would be tile layer pro, or better yet tile molester.
Im curious. What are you going to be riping?
The reason im asking, is because i have already riped just about every mario allstars graphics their is, and if their is a particular set of graphics you want, i can give them to you. |

You aren't going to believe this, but Super Mario All-Stars. However after experimenting a bit offline I found the graphics in the rom itself, much better quality than the save states. The save states seemed to have all these lines through some rows. |

What ROMs? Some use 8BPP graphics which you simply can't import into SMW unless you were to convert them and reduce the colours, or they might do funny sprite layering/HDMA tricks. I've seen one game that did a lot of weird stuff to the extent that I couldn't get any of the graphics to look right in a save state. |

Mainly you gotta be lucky for one to be uncompressed, or you'll have to insert BMP pictures of the sprites from the other game.
Or, ya know, you could always do what da people with da brains do, which is rip from a savestate. That way everything you need is already all decompressed for you.
Note: It's unlikely that the graphics are gonna just pop out when you open a savestate in YY-CHR. First, you gotta make sure you're in the correct graphics mode (4bpp SNES). Second, you've gotta locate where in the savestate the graphcis are actually located. Just scroll until you find the area, it should be immediately obvious. Last, make sure you shift the bits so the pictures line up correctly. The little plus and minus buttons do that.
Can I burst your bubble for a minute? I did try all that, with two different roms, and that did not happen. |

Does anyone know how I can rip graphics from a Super Nintendo rom? I know opening the rom in yy-chr won't work because its compressed, I tried saving a state in ZSNES and opening that in yy-chr, but that didn't seem to work either. Can yy-chr do that or was I thinking of a different program? I also can't seem to find any graphics uncompressors on Zophar. |
