You sure it's not using some form of compression then?

Also the " just gives it a 'b' sound, just like how the circle does 'p'.

Well, you gotta think about why the circle's there in the first place. It is added to hiragana and katakana that start with an h or an f and it converts the h/f sound to a p sound. My guess, from the little I know about this, is that there is some sort of special flag somewhere that indicates a letter's gonna have either the circle or the " (which makes a consonant voiced) above it. I imagine that if you look hard enough, you'll find a way to "blank" it out, simply not have it put there.

EDIT: If it looks like it uses a different code every time, be sure! You don't want to give yourself more trouble than you have to!

I guess you just need to study the text system a bit more than. If the letter you can't find is the one with the circle above it, then the game may be using a different code for it rather than 0C.

Also I'm pretty sure you can't have Ma with a circle over it.

I already had understood it. Anyway, AFAIK, the symbol placed in the upper side of a few japanese chars are identified by its ID. It means if you replace it by a "normal" symbol, then this symbol will FOLLOW the actual.

You mean the circle thing? Even if I did, the code won't change, and I want to change the code. And If I remove all letters still same problem, I just won't be able to write the names. Example:

If I want to translate a normal word that doesn't have any circles or werid things above, let's say TsuHyuMa, so it would be something like 04030C, so I change these with other hex decimals and tara, it's translated.

If I want to translate a word where a circle is above a letter let's say, TsuHyuMa(ma with a circle above) it would be 0403 ......then the 0C may come after a couple of lines, and sometimes I can't even find it. And If I edit it nothing changes

Was that a better explained?

Quick answer - the tile number is the letter ID in the ROM. You find the letter ID followed by the other symbol. They are sequential in the ROM image. I already hacked a japanese game (Saint Seiya) and could figured out very easily.

Guys, as you can see this is my first post, which means I am a newbie (but you guys don't care so nvm). Anyway, Captain Tsubasa 2 is my first game that I try to hack (text hack) and I have been doing good, until I met some odd problems. Here is the problem:

There are some letters, that are normal and that I can translate using hex editor. But there are also letters like this one . This one is actually with above it, so it's kinda 2 in once place. So when I try to find the word in hex editor (Hexposure) I can't, because the number for the letter is not the same. Can anyone please tell me, how I can edit such a letter?

Note: I can change the letters from the pattern, but that's no solution.
