Hey sorry for the late reply but I'm currently working on it for one year and mabe it'll be out in a couple of weeks/months. I'm making a hack for people who are tired of playing impossible hacks (like you and I).Gonna be all new levels and all new overworld, but not really changed graphics....It will be called ''Super mario world2: The hangover''.
After the end of his quest of finding yoshi eggs, Mario partied and got drunk.
When he woke up on the hangover he found himself on a new island where peach is missing again! It will be full of offensive languages though but hey! People will enjoy it because it is really fun! I like it more than the original mario world game! People who tested it too! If I can finish it and host it on the web, I will send screenshots and the link to download it...

And by the way: Why do people with such hacking skills and imagination like you guys waste your time on making such impossible hacks? Graphics, overworld and ideas perfect but too hard! Make something people will enjoy playing!!! Please!

There are some hacks I never came through with save-stating, like FPI's TSRP II - it begins ridicously easy, but later on there are long levels and some castles are just more than challenging. I just need to mention that castle where you are inside a level similar like a flipper. There are sparks ... many sparks - all of them are instant kill blocks
On the other hand there were hard, but very interesting levels - like the Deku Tree level - that was more than fun, although the time limit of 800 or 999 had its purpose. Going crossing various rooms, toying with different P-switches, that was more than fun

But I have to agree, some of Golden Yoshi's games were (too) challenging. The level design is great, but either I suck badly or the levels were too hard - even with a gamepad
But the same was it when I still was hacking ...

One level grabbed SMB3's theme with that grab-a-star-and-run-over-an-endless-row-of-munchers, but this SIX times in a row, with a lot of jumps, climbing fences, swimming and much more - only a time-limit of 200 and no midway-point. I thought it was a "little" challenging, as I, of course, was to able with some trial and error - others reported that level a save-state nightmare

I agree with cpu, hackers tend to think there hack is easy since they know every little trick to whiz right through it, but fail to see things from the audience's perspective, thus they make it ridiculously difficult. When I made SMW+3, I had so many ideas for cool, challenging puzzles, that I went ahead full force to put all of these in that hack. I didn't really stop to realize that not everyone will understand the puzzles as I had, so ultimately a lot of people had very much trouble and to this day I can only think of one person besides me who has beaten it (shout out to Sonicandtails ). Anyway, my point being, it's not you in particular who's at fault, it's very often the author for making the hack too hard. Peace.

that's why i was making an easier version of Anikiti's Luigi's Adventure.

I just wonder if he will let me release it

edit: cpu, i think JJ's hack was a bit too much difficult...at least he should make a 'growing' difficult level, like a normal commercial game would be.

The creator thinks that the hack is very simple. Of course it is for them. THEY MADE IT! They know the best way to beat it and they also know all the secrets. Plus, with extensive testing, they master the level in no time and they become quite bored with it.

Some hacks, though, I wonder why hacks that are so tough and the creators think they are hard and yet they still don't do anything about it...

JJ: Your hack isn't too difficult... it is somewhat hard, but not like savestate difficult...

My own hack is hard as heck, despite steps I have taken to make it easier. The main problem is that even though I could easily play and beat it on the actual hardware (or rough approximations with emulators on current systems) without any fancy schmancy savestates, I have been playing these same levels for years. Not everyone has that kind of time to waste on a simple hack, which is why it is so garsh darn hard. I'm sure every other creator is in the same situation, the evidence pretty much speaks for itself.

heh ok i realise that i suck at mazza world ;(.. but yeah i guess you are all correct.. and i must admit, even if i can't complete these games - i still get a lot of enjoyment from them! keep up teh good work ;D ps - any rough FAQs for hacks?? or is that a sell out.. :/ getting stuck on the first level of games like Super mario + 3 is so annoying! i thought about slapping a few mushrooms in there - but i realised that is lame to fk about with the authors work... Yeah. Some people just suck at hacking and make hacks that are way too hard. It's not your fault

Yes sunny side world is incomplete.
It is possible to fly above the wall there are a few more leves you can play but it just gets srewed up later.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure that screen was meant to be impossible to pass, as that release was only a demo of the first world. I could be wrong, though...

Aside from that, I agree that hacks in general are harder than the original SMW was. Part of this is because the original wasn't really that hard as a whole. Most of the time I can deal with what I try playing...only that damn Luigi's Adventure comes to mind as an abandoned playthrough...I'll still probably pick it up again eventually. I kinda like the challenge most hacks offer, as long as they're designed well enough that the challenge doesn't come from being "cheap" (do-or-die blind jumps, long areas of jumping on single blocks over pits...that kind of stuff). That said, I hope you're using a controller at least. I can't imagine going back to playing with a keyboard

Most of the hacks I've played are so hard it's ridiculous. Even with save states. Somehow it just doesn't feel like they were made for the general player.

No it could be the Author.
Some Hacks tend to be Harder than the original.

i always considered myself good at super mario world.. able to complete it in an hour or so??? nothing to sing about i know, but recently when i started to get into this super mario hack thing, i have realised either i am really shit at mario, or these hacks are just too damn hard! Example - Super demo world.. ok, so i can get to the yellow switch palace.. but yoshi's island 3 is just too damn hard.. the bit with the (P) switch and the clouds etc.... another example - super sunny world.. now i am sure it would help if i read japanese but i just get stuck on the second world.. (2-1) on a seemingly impossible screen? Please don't ask me about Super mario world plus 3's first level - i will have to break some things.. sorry if this seemed like a crappy rant from a peed off mario fan (how can i be peed off with all these new mario levels? *joy*) but i dunno........ i guess the emulation fact doesn't help, won't be as smooth as my old snes but...... uh rant over
