In the Toronto area we have Deja Vu Discs.

Think of it this way.

All CDs work and are in their original packaging. You can order any CD you want.

Now. 12 bucks. For the rare ones.

Most are only 9 or 10 bucks.

Oh yeah, forgot about Best Buy.

These places are great to get cds at. Only problem is that they gouge the fucking price up. At least that's what they do over here.

Which is exactly why I prefer amazon.com (or any other trustworthy internet store). Not only will they have a better selection, but it tends to be much cheaper too.

I dont have those stores.

1. I live in Canada.
2. I'm in a small town.

They SHOULD have it at either FYE or Sam Goody. If they don't, they're probably just out of stock because I've seen them at both places before.

Legion, I find it funny how you'd rag on COF, but praise Dimmu.

For some reason, I knew you'd say that.

Dimmu has farrrrr more talent than Cradle could ever HOPE for.

I agree. I love Hybrid Stigmata and Puritania. Great songs.

Also: I CANT GET DRAGONFORCE IN MY MALL....

I wish I could get Dragonforce in my mall... >>

Cradle has Principle's of Evil Made Flesh.

Dimmu has Stormblast and For All Tid.

2 always beats 1.

PS: Black Metal Mainstream = more than five people know the band exists. You guys ever hear of Checker Patrol? Nope. That's because they're not mainstream...HAIL THE DARK LORDS!

Burzum's Aske, self-titled, Det Somen Gang Var, and Filosofem are all black metal. The latter two going more into what we see in Baldr's Dod and Hilidskjalff

Darkthrone rules. Blaze in the Northern Sky...Even their newer stuff, like Ravishing Grimness is very good. Their first album, Soulside Journey, though is brilliant.

And Ulver's Bergtratt and Natten's Madrigal are the two best BM albums ever produced.

WTF.

Stop fighting over music genres. "OMG THEY'RE BLACK METAL" "NO THEY"RE PROGRESSIVE DEATH".

who cares? Stop classifying your music so much. Say, "mmm this is pretty heavy it gets a +1", or "man this guitar tone sounds like a shitburger, it gets a -1".

That said, Cradle of Filth isn't bad. I enjoy most of their music because its catchy and usually pretty heavy, even if not Pantera or Deicide levels.

You all have to admit though: Mainstream means money, money means good recording quality, good recording quality ( most of the time ) means good tone. Good tone means happy ears.

Dragonforce is mainstream too ya know. Just because it's mainstream doesn't mean it's bad.

Not really in the US at least.

Then again I don't get out much.

You can find their cds in the mall. Doesn't get more mainstream than that.

What's this 'mainstream' you speak of?

Shit? ...

As for the topic at hand, whatever the future may hold for Cradle of Filth I'll probably never notice, I'm not much of a fan for the black arts.

Just pure Power and Progessive for me.

"Listen to some real black metal and you'll see why me and Ziff speak ever so unkindly of them."

That post just seems a little condescending. So I guess it almost kind of contradicts your last post...maybe. But whatever. :o

I've never really paid much attention to Dimmu Borgir, so I really can't say anything. But from my understanding, they're just as mainstream and "faux-black metal" as COF is, which is why I find it funny that you praise them yet spit on COF.

Enblackened thrash. Hee hee.

Burzum's only black metal album is their self-titled, isn't it? It's got some good stuff on it... I'm more partial to Darkthrone's A Blaze in the Northern Sky. Very good album right there... Raw and nasty.

If you want some proto-black metal check out Bathory, Venom, Old Funeral, etc.

Learn to read.

PROTO. PRE-EXISTING. THE BEGINNER OF. SO ON.

They may have been thrash, I'm not disputing this. But it stands regardless that their success is what has built up black metal.

In fact, in many black metal circles, the majority of modern black metal is seen as no more than extended thrash or "enblackened thrash". Which leads to stupid genre whoring which is annoying.
