I prefer YY-CHR (it's a very reliable program). It works quite well for graphics editing.
And thanks for telling me about the 3bpp <-> 4bpp linear converters. Perhaps they could be used for other games with a 3bpp linear graphics format as well (uncompressed 3bpp in Zelda3?) |

Hello, just thought I'd share with you some information I figured out while working with my SMW ROM:
GFX27 (Mode7 graphics) is stored in 3bpp linear format. It contains the Koopa Kid swinging platform and the Reznor boss background.
Tile Molester (http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~kenth/tm/) can view and edit 3bpp linear format images.
