By god, I would so use that if the palettes and size allowed. I mean, it'd be hilarious.

Replace the flame with a screaming skull or something and have a kid with a remote control sitting in the cloud or... ya know... don't. but yeah, I'd aim for fixin' up the ghost a bit... he looks a tad goofy.

Yeah, and then it rights itself, then breaks away again...

Basically, it flips horizontally every two frames. This is because there are only two frames for the flame, and to extend the animation it was set to flip every two frames, making it appear it has four frames of animation. I have no experience with ASM so I cannot right this.

I do think it looks cool. When you say it flips back and forth independently, does it break away from the staff and just hang from nothing or what?

Are you joking, or did you just not read the last paragraph?

Heh heh. I like it. Yeah its awkward, but its funny/cool.

But that'd look really dumb. Think about it.

Here! I even went to the trouble of creating it like that to give you an image.

Now doesn't that look awkward, with the 16-bit skeletal arm, and the transparency issues, and the palette problems? Not to mention he's holding the scythe backwards.

And that's just a still frame. When in motion, the scythe blade constantly flips backwards creepily and independent from the actual staff. Even if I corrected the palette problems by sacrificing all other pieces of the palette to make the reaper work, I still couldn't make that not terrible.

When I heard the scythe blade idea, I thought you'd replace the string with the shaft of the scythe, and the fire with a scythe blade (maybe on fire or gleaming or something, since you have two frames to work with). It'd look cool, I think; you might want to try it.

You could replace the flame ith the scythe. The grim reaper looks kinda odd...

Thank you Smallhacker. Your advice was quite helpful, and I went with Kario's idea. I'm quite impressed with the way it turned out

Unfortunately, the scythe blade hanging down would be impossible considering the way the cord goes. Even if I had a long blade hanging down, you'd be able to pass through it which wouldn't make sense. So I just made a bloody scythe with a flame at the bottom of it, because, you know, it's mystical.

As far as I can tell, the big cloud is 4 (maybe 6) small clouds that overlaps eachother...

Alright. Now, when I find where that cloud is in the graphics file, I'll be set. The closest thing I've found is on the first sprite page, but that can't be right... I mean, it's not nearly large enough...

How to make ExGFX without a tile editor:

Export the graphics. Do NOT, I repeat NOT use joined files. Copy one of the graphics file and paste it in your ExGFX folder. Rename it to ExGFX80.bin. Import ExGFX. Use Super GFX bypass and choose it for a level. Edit it in the 8x8 editor. Save and import ExGFX. There you go! You have created and edited your very own ExGFX file! Weeh!

In theory, yes. Theory however does not account for the fact that while I know how to install ExGFX, I do not know how to create my own, mostly due to not being able to work any of the tile editing programs I've found. As it stands, I'm getting by fairly alright just by using Lunar Magic's 8x8 editor, so...

As for the cloud, you can use ExGFX ... can't you?

Yes, I believe I'll do that. Thank you, smallhacker.

EDIT: Ugh... not enough room to put Lakitu in ;-;

I've got an idea!

Replace the fishing boo graphics with Lakitu graphics. Make Lakitu look more ghost-like and change the fire into a poisonous mushroom (Lost Levels).

No, I couldn't =/ It would require messing with several other things, which would make everything else not work.

And even if it were possible... Well... I... can't really... draw a skull...

You could replace it for the Ghost Houses.

If that is not a suggestion, what the heck are you talking about?

That is not a suggestion. That is a... I have no clue how I would do that. For one, the cloud it rides is used in several other places (same cloud Lakitu uses, I believe) so replacing that would not work. For two... Gah. Just... Gah.

Admittedly, it would be really nice, but... It's just... not possible.
