If they can get write support reading, I don't see why it wouldn't be.

(2)Oh, and Dwedit, once I release the final version of the code, would you mind incorporating it into Pocketnes. That might be enough incentive to get long filenames working. probably not though - reading VFAT is a pain, writing it is a nightmare.

Once chishm perfects writing to the CF card, it would be great if it was incorporated into PocketNES. You could eliminate the 'SRAM Cannibalism' (in the PocketNES hack by Dwedit) feature and replace it with saving the SRAM, and maybe even savestates to the flash card.
Also, it would be great to incorperate into Goomba as well. You wouldn't have to prepare the GBA roms beforehand, you could load the Goomba emulator and load the GB Roms inside of Goomba...

Now... I don't understand a good portion of what is being said in the gbadev thread... so I won't be suprised if anything I said above is imposible.

Nice. I might have to pick up a GBA/DS tutorial.

I've had one since February, and I love it.
I don't think it's possible to replace the actual rom, but you could probably hack the firmware. There's a thread on Pocket Heaven about it... but I have no idea how far they've gotten (probably nowhere):

I do not have a DS... so I don't know.
As far as I can tell, it works with all flash cards. I've tried everything from a 16mb Kodak card to a 512 Sandisk card.
No, as of now, it doesn't support playlists. It plays in alphabetical order. (Also, it only displays 8 character file names, which sucks)

On the plus side, the newer firmware has higher video quality. As well, you can now run *most* GBA Multiboot games, and play A LOT of NES Roms (as long as they're under 256 kb) using dwedit's PocketNES Compression Hack.

EDIT: You can also play a select few GB games with GOOMBA.
The GBA MP is great for podcasts as well... (I've been listening to VGDJ on it lately, link is in my sig)

However, if you do get one and successfully hack it... LET ME KNOW!!

I was planning to get one of these at some point, and so I'm rather curious as to what sort of things hackers have been able to do with it. Is it possible to replace the ROM or access the memory card through DS code? And without being hacked, what size/brand memory cards can it use and does it support playlists? (Maybe I won't even need to hack it. )
