Most rom hacking happens using a level editor or graphics editor. The only time you need to understand how to program is when you're dealing with a game's actual program, or, ASM. But if you're a beginner, then the first step to take is play some rom hacks, hack some over-hacked games (like SMW, SMB, Castlevania, etc) which have decent editors for them. |
