Considering how a couple of games do run/show stuff on various emulators... the wall's partially broken down, basically.

I say we're there by the end of the year at this pace - sooner if a brand new copy of Ensata was leaked. :\

Interesting. I think the walls will eventually come down on this though; the RSA will be cracked. It's not like a server that can change its password and that only a few care about hacking; but it's a game that, once distributed, is out there and can't be changed, plus you have many interested in cracking it. Eventually, someone will come along with a different perspective from the others and finally figure it out, or someone from Nintendo will come out and say it.

nintendo can be pissed all they want. They have diapers. [also known as the 23 different systems they have out]

I wouldn't put it past them.

Although, to be fair, Nintendo's probably less pissed at 1.3 being leaked than if a brand new version was.

Colleen: yeah. but nobody really cares. they're not a rom . and I wouldn't exactly classify them as warez. nintendo isn't going to shove a sticky witch broom down our throats because someone links to a plugin :O

Full Name is Iris Ensata
How to get a dump to play in ensata. Rename it to .srl or .bin then load wait a minute and it will play.

If Nintendo made plugins for Ensata, then YES. They'd be illegal since the code is still theirs and the actual emulator wasn't meant to be distributed to begin with. They're not like plugins for ePSXe or Project 64.

On another note, Ensata's actually a neat name for an emulator. Wonder who thought that up and what it stands for.

never knew there were plugins...and yeah, I wouldnt think theres anything wrong with telling us where to get them...unless they came with the emulator...in which case you cant...and yeah, I cant run anything...only tried demo's but none work...

The only one that runs commericial games is Nintendos Ensata, no I won't give it to you. IdeaS ran part of the metroid hunters demo so wait for that stuff. Or you could get passme and a flashcard or NeoFlash.

Surprising that GoldenEye would be the one single game that runs well while the others all "white screen".

What are the odds a future version of that dev kit gets leaked... :\ Apparently the leaked emulator does run PD roms well though.

I tried the most recent version of DSlinux on iDeaS. It works up until the point it's trying to free memory. Then it just... freezes.

The emulator from Nintendo's development kit also leaked a while ago. It doesn't play very many games, and not very fast. It could run GoldenEye seemingly perfect, but at 5fps it wasn't a very enjoyable experience
The emulator is also illegal, as it is from a development kit not meant for the public.

Strange, almost all of the new dumps of the DS roms have gone missing, and I can't seem to find them anymore. Maybe they've been found to be bad dumps.

EDIT: Never mind, found 'em. I got a Twilight Princess preview with 16 screens to work in the latest version of iDeaS, along with the demo of Meteos.

EDIT2: Here is a list of roms that show signs of life in iDeaS:
0007 Polarium (U)
00026 Pokemon Dash (U)
Zelda Gallery (U)
Meteos Demo (U)

It'll probably depend on the game. Something like Super Mario 64 or a puzzle game (where stylus use is optional if supported) will obviously be a lot more enjoyable than the new Kirby game.

At least they can run more than homebrewn tech demos now but... well. That's not telling much.

Besides, clicking on a emulated touch screen isn't probably as effective as a real touch screen and dosen't give the same feel obviously. :/

*meaningful bump*

A new wave of DS cart dumps (26!) just came out and a bunch of them DO show something on the latest version of iDeaS. Nothing *extremely* noteworthy (for example, none of the games are playable but some get to a title screen or have messed up colors or have something visible) but apparently the dumping method for this last batch was different; not hacked like the first 20+ so dumps were.
This is a long thread. Click here to view it.
