My end party also had Mario, Peach, and Bowser.. for no reason other than I liked them the most. 
My favorite would have to be Bowser. I don't have a logical reason, it just takes me back to when I first had that game and my best friend would come over all the time, and we'd play it together. Like make choices in the game and stuff. We'd trade off controllers. And every time he came we'd argue over who got to be Bowser, because he was THE COOLEST.

Geno was the best, he not only was one of the strongest, but he looked the coolest too. My team was Mario Geno Mallow, why waste new characters? They really need to have Geno return in one of the games, that'd make me good and happy. |

Geno- I managed to beat the gateway to smithy's world (can't remember his name) in one round, by using my other two party members on his left eye, and geno whirling him, to beat him in an easy one round battle. Very fun. |

Geno's the coolest, because he got a little kid in trouble with his mom. I have yet to see Mario match that accomplishment. Also, his real name is an unpronouncable symbol, like Prince. |

My usual party consisted of Mario, Peach, and Bowser.
I gave Peach the Lazy Shell armor, making her pretty much invincible to attacks.
Gave Mario the Lazy Shell weapon, making him deal the strongest attacks.
Also gave Mario the Culex Charm (I think that's what it was called), so he was very strong...
In the end I'd have to say I liked Mario the best. His special attacks were the coolest too, since I've always been good at rapidly hitting buttons and having great reflexes in games. (the jump attack) |

Bowser wasn't that much of a powerhouse... In the end I had Geno and Peach doing more damage per regular attack than him, and Geno's Geno Blast was doing more than the giant MechaKoopa did, and I still had Geno Flash to go off of.
His ultimate weapon's the Drill Claw that you get the second time you hit up Bowser's Castle, right? I wasn't sure if it was, because Peach and Mario actually needed you to go above and beyond for their final weapons.
I tried to even out my special/physical/HP upgrades for all of my characters, but I ended up going predominantly HP for Bowser, so yeah he had the HP on his side, but he wasn't much of a damage dealer. |
