Greetings again,
I've come to realize that SMB2 uses the same Title Screen storage format as SMB1. [Why the programmers chose to do this in a game with 8-frame inanimate objects and 27% empty space is a question for the ages.] I know of a nifty Title Screen Editor for SMB1, but does one such editor exist for Mario 2?
Also, I'm having a bit of a tiff in rewriting the text for the "PLEASE SELECT PLAYER" screen. The top row seems to have a 21-50-06 sequence [line $1DC40] that cannot be altered, lest I wind up with a bizzare (but functional) selection screen. This sequence creates the space between PLEASE and SELECT, even though the normal code for a space between words is FB. Does anyone know a way to replace this 21-50-06 space with a regular character, without screwing up the screen's appearance?
