now that I'm reinstalling Windows, it seems to be working. I couldn't figure out how to use repair. so I chose to reinstall windows. |

Use this tool on that HD. (I honestly don't know about any better product to use for checking the SMART thing)
If severeal things are listed as failed, then the HD might be starting going to hell.
If it lists anything as failing in Diskcheckup (I wonder if there is any better free tool), then it might be a time for backup.
A HD that is going bad on a hardware level wouldn't be cured with a big reformat, or even a repartioning.  |

I has something to do with the drive. My bookmarks were corrupt. So I'll find the disk, and try to fix the problem, I put the HD that I use for a server in the computer, and it works fine. I think its the HD. |

he installs a new DVD ROM drive and he gets NTLDR is missing message. Maybe somehow his DVD-ROM is C and his HD is D? After all, custom computers typically have cable select as how they set master and slave |

Er, you shouldn't try another HD in your computer if you suspect it's power-related... The low power could mess them both up. Try putting your HD in another computer, and see if anything's on it. |

No, no... You can't easily an NTLDR Missing error caused by hardware, really only if the physical disk is failing, but that's rare. Especially if the hard disk isn't getting power, because you wouldn't even see that message.
Now get your Windows CD-ROM and boot it and go through until it gives you an option to do a recovery install. |

I think its a power issue. But it could be the hard drive, is there still a way to get into the hard drive? I tried my uncals hard drive in my computer and I get the same error, but I think it might be both hard drives. If the files or the hard drive are corrupt, I think I know where to get some hardware that will format and fix the drive. thx |

It sounds like your power supply might be failiing or not powerful enough. Too little power could cause random crashes like that, and once you added RAM and a DVD drive, there might not even be enough to power the HD. NTLDR is one of the most important system files; if it's not there, either your HD is failing (which could mean it's dead or just a power issue) or something got corrupted. Try removing the RAM, DVD and whatever else you can, and see if that helps it.
Also, next time you get the chance, go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery Settings and turn off Automatically Restart (assuming you're using XP, given that it has NTLDR). That way you can actually see the error message when the system crashes. Write down the numbers and look them up on Microsoft.com (just the first one or two should do), and you should find some info.
BTW if it were Blaster, you'd get an error message kinda thing that says the system is shutting down in a few minutes, with a timer counting down. |

Before I got this error, The computer kept restarting its self, I didn't think much of it, only that I had a bug or something I wasn't able to remove the bug, because it would reboot when I ran a virus scan. When I ran Ad-Aware it would get to removing some of the problems, then it would just stop, and not finnish. |

hmm... Neither of those should result in an NTLDR error.
Could you try using your Windows CD to do a recovery installation? |

I added over 2ce the ram I had b4, and it started when I added the DVD drive |

The DMI Pool Data is a BIOS thing for sure, I see it on some school computers.
Anyway... have you done anything major to your computer recently? |

When I start my computer, it gets all the way to where it says:
Vearifying DMI Pool Data....................
Then it says:
NTLTR is missing
What is the problem, why is this happaning, and what should I do about it. thx |
