I've had that too. Spammers like to fake things like that. How it works, I'm not entirely sure (probably BCC like neo said), but the point is it's nothing worth reading. Really you shouldn't even open spam, because just by doing so they can verify that your account exists and start spamming the hell out of you. (What do you think happens when you open an email with an image linked to 'www.somespammerssite.com/email.php?your@address.here'? )

(1) routing errors probably caused that message to reach you
(2) email headers are very easy to fake thus that is how stuff can reach your destination eventhough it was not formally addressed to you
(3) also, BCC fields are hidden from users and you only see the to field; so some how the to field was that address although the bcc probably had your mail...

Well I'm not disputing whether or not it's spam. I'm wondering how can it be sent to me if the addresses in the "TO" field didn't match with my actual address.

It's spam in one way or another. Sometimes, it simply ends up in your inbox unexpectedly. Others have encountered it and you know it. I had the same problem before! Solution: Delete it. It may fool you into believing that you did somethin when you did not. Aside from that, you may want to check the headers to see the source of it. Chances are that it could be spoofed, that is, faked.

Link to image. (Image edited to protect... stuff.

We all gotten spam at one point or another, I recently got one trying to steal my banking information from a bank I don't go to. I almost deleted it when something got my I. The E-mail wasn't even addressed to me, it was addressed to someone with a simular address. Why did this even end up in my bulk inbox if it wasn't my addressed to me.
