He has the same problem my friend does. It's the fact that the later version of Windows XP doesn't support dos programs. I forget the exact error message it gives you.

What stupid ignore/close error? If you are more specific, we may be able to help you fix any problems with running DOS editors.

I ran into this the other day, it's not a hack, but it's such a cool megaman remake that it might as well be. This game really is awesome. It has many enemies from the NES megaman games, along with completely original bosses. Most of the music is original too. Baseball man's theme was my favorite tune.

My only gripe is that some of the levels seemed long and boring, they just used too many enemies. Another complaint is that the game takes 134MB of RAM - even though it's a small download (2MB). but I think that is just because of the game maker program they used. It's still an awesome download, worth checking out.

It's one of the games on this page, just scroll down untill you see "Hard Hat 2."

Yeah, and I'm not sure if he's continueing it.

I loved that hack though, the new graphics were awesome, and the ASM trick to have an "intro" level was pretty nice too.

But yeah, I've played a handful of good Megaman 2-3 hacks myself, can't remember any of them specifically though.

I really wish there were more MM5-6 hacks though, they had new gameplay elements compared to the older ones which could make hacks more interesting, but to me it only seems poplular to hack Megaman 1-3 or something.

Presumably the problem is because it requires not being lazy, and actually reading the manual for Visine/Sixtans/any DOS editor.

I'm wondering about the same thing. How can there be so many hacks of Mega Man 1, 2 and even 3 then? Although the editors are in DOS, they do pretty much every thing you want. I've used them much, and have no serious complains so far. What's your problem with DOS, turtleman? Doesn't it work?

What's wrong with dos based programs? Do so many people have that crappy version of Windows XP that doesn't have DOS support?
It's sad to see no MegaManVI hacks around... with the MM6 editor sixtans, coded by myself.
I think it may be because its DOS based and not to many people are fond of that

But you are the only one that DID make a MM6 editor so I'll give ya credit there

Uh... can you STOP with those jokings?
"VILE" has never existed (only in the minds of my helper), but actually HALed (Lolo editor).

Of course I was kidding. Still, Visine isn't nearly as much as piece of crap as that god aweful program, VILE!

WHOA! My hack got recommended???

Nice! Thanks, guys! I mean I knew it was good, but seriously, THAT good? Wow!

And of course, in case I didn't say this before, I owe all respect possible to Fx3 for making MegaFLE, with which I created that MM4 hack.

I bet you could make an even better editor than that loser who coded Visine

For your information, I am the "loser" that wrote visine.
Yes, it's on my works. Japanese guys *love* my editor... a lot.

I really enjoyed Megaman Wily's Conquest 2 by HyperMegamanZ. Matrixz's imcomplete Megaman 3 hack was also quite good. Both can be found at DES. Then there was also that Megaman 5 hack by Dark X, I think. Can't for the life of me remember the name.

Even though there are tons of editors for the Megaman games, there doesn't seem to be as many hacks. Shame.
