Select run in start menu and write dxdiag. Test if directdraw works correctly. Still, RA2 is a very combitable game. It can run on old computers very smooth, I know that from experince.
It might be some setting in the game that makes it act like that I suppose. It's possible to "flush" the ingame settings, it will then default itself. I check which file when I get home.
What screen resolution do you use outside of RA? Just wondering, then RA2 uses a very low res (640x400 or something) so it shouldn't be a problem really.
Edit: Can you check RA2.ini in the RA2 folder? What does it say under video? FYI mine is: [Video] ScreenWidth=800 ScreenHeight=600 StretchMovies=no
It might be not that, but it's easy to fix if it is... try changing it around.
Also try to move RA2.ini to another folder and see if it helps. The game creates a new ini file if one is missing. |

It should be working in Windows XP. I'd play with screen resolution, although I'm not sure if that would work, RA2 should resize when you load it... |

I'm trying to play Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 on a computer, but the screen is all black. I can only hear the sound. I even tried installing the latest patch. The computer has WinXP, no service packs installed, and DirectX 9.0c installed. |
