I'll have to try 3000 one day but I always liked how simple 2000 was and the whole graphical style/interface.

Maybe I'll try 4 one day but that might be a bit too much micro-management for my taste.

There really isn't that much diffrent between Simcity 2000 and 3000. Mostly graphical changes. And 3000 is just less annoying than 2000 in my opinion.

Simcity 4 is the best one, since it's both competive and more realistic. It's also the most hard one. I would love Simcity 4 for DS, if they did include avenues.

GBA couldn't handle 3000 I don't think. Maybe the DS could but I'm not sure. Probably would still be phased down a bit.

I think 2000 worked for the simple reason that it made the right additions to the series; enough new features were added, but nothing that made the game needlessly complicated.

And now I need to look through my stack of CD-R's to see which one has the game.

For whatever reason, I think 2000 is considered the best of the series. Or maybe it's just the most the GBA can handle, I really don't know.

In any event, I liked the SNES SimCity and the PC SC2K myself. And, like Ace, I usually worked with flat land in SC2K (and only managed to get decent cash flow going fairly once).

I had SimCity 2000 on the Macintosh, I think it came out even before the PC version (but they looked about the same) ... I had fun with it for a good while, but I hex edited a copy of the game to make me start in year 3000 with $2147483647, and I usually made flat maps

SimCity on SNES was definitely fun too (I made a Megalopolis once), better than on PC and Macintosh ... although the PC version ran insanely fast even on a 386 or 486, up to years per second, which was funny to watch (stuff was built instantly, and you can get rich fast)

As for the newer ones (3000 and 4), I never played them so I can't really compare ...

I don't know why they picked Sim City 2000 of all versions to release on a handheld, but that could be interesting ... if they did a better job with the low resolution than on the SNES

I think the main difference between the SC and SC2000 ports was that the SC port was designed with the SNES in mind, and ended up being a popular title released right around launch. The SC2000 port... it came out near the end of the SNES' lifetime and looked like a scaled-down PC version. You do the math.

I prefer 2000 but only on PC, mind you.

I've found that setting the speed to African Swallow can help build things like a seaport or airport

Also... using a hydro power plant system may seem unfeasible, but it's not only cheaper but uses less space in the long run...

Simcity really is a game about patience. You can't build fast or you'll see yourself dipping into red before too long.

I've greatly enjoyed every Simcity game since the original, I'd say I'm a decent player. Simcity 4 is the best, but 2000 will always have a special place in my heart.

SimCity 4 is pretty awsome. I always had a hardtime with budgeting, though, and after like 2 hours of playing on one city I was always in debut up to my eyeballs. So much red! Ahh! Raise taxes! Lower education funds! Give up and cheat for money!

I have only had one successful city in SimCity 2000. Ever. That was on the Pocket PC version (compatible with PC version which I also have). I also had it on Sega Saturn. MAN, that title screen music was awesome.

As Ailure (Kitty Jedi) said, SimCity 4 rocks. SimCity 3000 struck me as a bit blah though, I preferred SC2000.

Sim City 2000 for SNES was horrible. If the GBA version is anything like it, I'll be staying far, far away. Sim City for SNES, on the other hand, is my favorite Sim ____ game, hands down; I wish they'd make another like it.

Simcity 4 is the best one, however Simcity 3000 is my next favorite. Simcity 4 is awesome together with it's expansion pack. Althought Simcity 3000 probably is simpler for newbies. Simcity 3000 is little too easy sadly...

Simcity 2000 was on SNES too, the SNES version sucked. Never played the GBA version, but i'm not too surprised if the controller is little... wierd.

No, no!! The original was the best! I loved that game on SNES. 2000 wasn't bad, but after that, it started getting too complicated. I couldn't get anywhere without cheating.

Not GBA.... But I did play the SNES version, if it's any consolation.

I still think the bar none best Simcity game is 3000. It's the most fun for me, and the music owns.

Has anyone ever played this? I'm playing the PC version now, and this just came to mind. I don't think it's too well known on the GBA, though. :\
