Well in the first level of DKC3, you could accumulate 10 lives real quick. So, you could essentially accumulate the max 99 lives (and then some, since I've seen when you accumulate more than 99 lives, then lose a live, it still stays at 99) within the first hour of play.

Yeah, I thought DKC2 was the best in the series. It introduced the DK coin and had awesome music. The Bonus level where you have to change into each of the animals I thought was really challenging -- it took about 30 lives the first time I played it.

None of them are BAD games or anything, but I just felt that the Diddy/Dixie pairing was probably the best/most versatile one in the entire series, and the challenge was there. DKC was challenging as well but DKC2 just improved on it a bit more. I never cared much for DKC3's level design.

I can agree with your first statement. DKC2 was definently the most challenging of the 3. DKC was just flat out, pretty easy, while as DKC3 had it's tougher parts on some levels.

But yeah, seriously, they're all top notch games.

I'm pretty sure this topic was made in the past, and I'll stick to my decision like I always have.

Unlike most, I actually liked the original the most. I played it with my friend all the time, when I was like 5 years old. I have my memories with it.

I just liked the setting, and the music in the original over the other two. Fear Factory? Totally awesome theme. I just liked it's Aztec/Jungle/Cave theme over say, DKC2's Pirate theme. And besides it's the only one where you actually get to play as DK himself.

I guess it really doesn't matter though, I own all of them.

What does matter though, is that Donkey Kong 64 failed horribly to make this series go even further.

DKC2. by far. Starts relatively easy, gets harder as you go on, lots of stuff to collect, but not too much where as it gets boring. great music, great everything. it's one of the few games [eh. compared to how many games i've played at least] I've gone out of my way to actually buy. it's so p2n.

Eveen though I played DKC3 to death and back again, I REALLY have to prefer 2. It's easily my favorite, though not having played it 100% sucked. I didn't get the DK coins but I just sort of... rode along while my brother got everything.

Final battle was <3 though.

I picked Donkey Kong Country. It set the trends, introduced the ideas, etc. Donkey Kong Country 2 was great as well, but the third really stunk. I didn't like the level select screen stuff.

DKC2, too.
It's one of the games you are gathering tons of lives, losing them again etc.
Every level had an own new idea or a new barrel/item/pet was introduced. Great, that originality did it very well with the kick-ass level-design and very well-balanced increasing difficulty

It took me quite a while to beat levels like "Toxic Tower" or to defeat the really innovative sword boss
And no to mention the Lost World - "Fuzzy Furnace" without a gamepad can be insanely hard
Also the music was superior, although DKC had some nice tracks (Factory, cave themes, ice track)
"Hot-Head Bop" (ID3 tag name of the DKC2-SPC, no it doesn't seems to be a spelling mistake ) is my most favourite track from the entire game.

Probably the original, because it was the only one that I could stand playing through the whole way.

DKC2. Level layouts, music, characters, themes, gameplay, yadda yadda yadda. I tried hacking it once but since no one game a damn...

it really is a tough call, but i think i will also have to go with DK2. I liked the 3rd least of all, but for the DK series that's not saying much. They were all really fantastic.

oh yah, <3 underwater music from DKC1

DKC2. Best music, most challenging (but not to a sickening degree, like some games), and most fun overall.

And again, best music. I listen to DKC2 music most of the time I'm on my computer.
Yay! Totally agree!

DKC got boring really fast, I truly am not a big fan of that game.

DKC2 was totally friggin' awesome, I could not put the game down, and the envoirments were so badass.

DKC3 felt too much like DKC.

Yeah, I liked DKC2 the best as well. I only recently managed to get all the DK coins (just out of pure luck and exploration), and it's also the darkest of the DKC games.

As we all know, a darker game is often a cooler game.

Probably because of the approach they took with it, requiring you to get certain things to advance, etc. Really, though, I hated the original. DKC2 was awesome, though.

The second one is awesome.

I had the most fun with DKC2. I 103%ed DKC3, but as someone already said, it was the least fun of the series to me for some reason.
