UPDATE: Im almost finishing Donut Plains. I added Jelectros after figuring out Pallette animations, as well as hard-to-find (I hope) secret exits.

Hmm toad one af the most neglected characters of many mario games yet he is cool in my book it is a good idea but try to make him look better if you can't rip the one from SMB2.

smwedit: The SMB2 Toad does not have all the actions that SMW has. :\

You should add some more shading, though. Other than that, it's a decent sprite.

I thought it may look better than an overused SMAS SMB2 Toad since the game the sprite is based on is newer.

Though my real question is: would any of you guys be interested if I redid every level, and maybe the entire overworld?

Oh and Master M, I have worked like an enslaved elf to get the flying sprite as good as I could get it, I dont know what else I could do about it.

I would say definitely redo all the levels. Even though you've created a new main character for this game, it would be better for him to be in a completely new atmosphere rather than the same old levels that we know like the back of our hands. I haven't played the demo yet, but even if those levels have some changes, it's better to just start over, that way you eliminate all the predicatability from the old levels. A new overworld would be cool, but don't let it take away too much time from designing your levels, I would make that the first priority. Once you get some really cool levels done, then you can tinker with the overworld.

Level design is my strong point in hacking.

Look at my first hack Shadow Mario World. I have changed the levels before the switches, and I changed Choco Ghost House into Ghost Fortress, the largest level, well, ever! I also changed Chocolate Island 2 after a bug I found, and now I bet you can't get the secret exit! This is in ShMW though, and I probably used my best level ideas in that hack.

If other people like it, Ill try and go for it.

OK I just added a shine to the balloons, they look better already! lol

I'd love it! You already surprised me with how you changed the way you got the key in Donut Plains. This shows good layout skills. Go for it! Don't dissapoint me.

It looks good. The Toad can use work, I agree. You still have some sprite to work on when he's flying with the cape. I like how you challenged up donut plains one to get the key! I'm expecting stellar performance from you.

Alright, Toad could use some work. He's not bad, you can tell what he is, but he's not great. I'd look at his SMAS sprite for SMB2. Not for a rip, but to look at to make sure you get everything to look right. In addition, your balloons look flat. Some light shading could help that.

That leaf in the last picture looks pretty good, though.

Now, don't take my criticisms too harshly. It could be great in time, it just needs some work.

Hi all! Ive been hard at work thinking of an alternative of Mario (which was Toad), and even more time drawing him decently. I didn't "rip", although I had a M&L SS sprite sheet to help me. Some of the sprites are redrawn from the toad you play as at the start of M&L SS. Anyway, Ive compiled a demo. Mario has been fully changed, though the levels and overworld have NOT. Well, actually I added Toad's House, and "I Spy a 1-UP" riddles in every world. But I have not changed the levels because I don't want to waste time on people who aren't interested. But if I get the inspiration and approval rating, I'll go for it.

Toad's having a party, but noones here!

SUUUUPERRRR TOOOOAD!
