I like Rpg World Online (www.rpgwo.com). It's got lots of stuff to do, and PvP is fun, although the community isn't as good as it used to be. If you want to play it, don't bother going on Lunatik or either Arcanium world, they're probably going to be taken down. I like AdventureQuest too, becoming a Guardian (extra features for about 15$) is worth it.

Guild Wars is my favorite game. People who say it is boring Obveously Havn't gotten that far in it. It is an all stratigic game. It tests skill and knowledge rather then total time played, which makes it a great game, Later on when you get really good, you can Create builds and fight in the Hall Of Heros to claim the favor of the gods. Fun.

Another text-based game: Star Wars Bounty Hunter Guild.
You can build an army, battle, explore etc. Still beta, so not 100% finished I guess.

(shameless ad I know )

I think as the only Nation there, I should have controll over updating the World Factbook Entry, and whatnot. Control of the region should default to the oldest surviving nation...

You know that's a very good idea, if there's a way of contacting the gamemakers, you should suggest it.

I'd play Nationstates again, but it looks like my country, and my friends' countries have all disappeared.

Oh, and under semi-free is AdventureQuest. It's free to play, or you can drop a one-time fee of $15 to become a guardian, and have access to everything, including two other games.

Battle for Wesnoth is a great turn-based strategy game, and it's completely FREE.

Not to mention many of the player communities are full of dickwads, at least when I last played, that was the biggest situation I ran into.

Ack, man, I used to play this so long ago.

Alright, first:

Guild Wars. It's a fun game, and you won't win just on stats alone. You'll need to work with others and with what you have(Level 20 cap doesn't mean much here). Oh, and the PvP is pretty fun, though if it's a GvG, it's hard.
(Here's what a Guild Battle is pretty much like, don't mind the quality, though: Pocket Heroes Guild Battle #1)

America's Army. Again, strategic and kinda hard. It's a fun game, though the updates is what I really want right now.

GunBound. Interface bad.

Theres always Runescape, which has gotten like a million times more popular than when I used to use it.

The graphics leave alot to be desired (java) but if you dont have broadband it's a good alternative.

Soldat is a neat little side view action game. People compare it to Worms in real time, but it's more like...Quake in 2D. It's pretty awesome, and the newest version allows you to modify the weapons as you please. Does get old pretty quickly, though.

Gate 88 is an RTS game in space. It's sort of like Continuum (Or Subspace if you insist) with buildings and units and stuff. It's awesome except...my computer hates me and refuses to run it at a decent speed in a multiplayer game of any worthwhile size. Don't worry about that, though; if you have a computer, it's probably better than mine.

Wulfram 2 is a 3D team based tank shooting game. Sort of. It's very cooperation oriented, and if you're a good leader then you should get along quite well here. If not, then you'll have to hope someone on your team IS. Even if there isn't, though, it's pretty fun.

Gunbound is Worms with a Korean spin and a terrible community. If you know someone who plays it (or would be willing to play it with you), then it's fun. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

I thought America's Army was a great game. It had a few weak points, but for a free game of such high quality, you can't let those tiny things bother you. But, I havn't played it since BF2 came out.

The link isn't working. Is it legal?

I recommend Darkthrone. Its similar to Kings of Chos but much better. It is much fairer and very addictive. Its based on turn based gold and you cn join alliance too.

http://www.warofgalaxy.com, if you are speaking of really free, non-pirated games. It is in German though

An extremely addicting space-themed, browser-based MMOG for HTML table fanatics like me.
