Or maybe the screenplay was, uh, different?

Maybe I'm weird or something, but I thought the movie sucked... a lot... a whole lot, I feel like I've lost more brain cells than I would've if I sniffed glue for 24 hours instead.

Maybe my book was a bad version or something, but I don't remember the vogon homeworld, hell, I don't remember the vogons past their ship. I don't remember anything about the "view point gun" or any of the stuff about the planet where they were asked to get the thing. They didn't bring in the girl who found out the secert to happyness, and a bunch of other of the real funny stuff. I don't remember

Spoiler:
about Arthur and Trillian falling in love.

I guess my book sucked a whole lot...

Zaphod was totally George W Bush.

I loved Magrathea and the factory floor... it was exactly how it appeared in my head and I giggled gleefully at it.

If anyone here's a fan, it's me. I saw it on opening night, and brought my towel too . The movie was excellent and true to the series, and I think that the new stuff they put in fit in very well (except for the love story.) Not to mention all of the references, from Arthur's clock saying 7:42 to Douglas's head in the end...very great movie. I especially loved Zaphod.

Overall I thought it moved along fine. But yeah, towards the end it just seemed a little rushed.

I liked Marvin. He was so funny. I watched the movie earlier. It was cool! I liked the part where they were all yarn!

Yeah she was.

Disappointment seems inevitable, because I mean, it's rated PG. A lot of parts were clever, I thought, though they didn't stick the the books as much as they could.

Wow, I must be lame. I just came back from seeing it and was disappointed.

I can't say I see the significance of the 21 million figure.

So, I read in the newspaper that the movie played for 4.2 million pounds in Britain during the first week, and 21 million dollars in the US during the first week. Coincidence?

If you remind yourself that it's based on a screenplay that Douglas Adams wrote and not solely on the books, this movie was awesome . I loved that Douglas Adams planet in the background on Magrathea . Also, it was great to see the original Marvin (from the BBC series) in the waiting room on Vogsphere . Amazing graphics, some of the smoothest and most seemless I've seen. I was kinda tearing up at the very end when they flashed Adams' face at the end, too .

I try to find the torrent file on google, but it is hard to find or the file is too big and it will take days to be finish. Anyway it looks very good though.

It was pretty good. Nothing compared to the books, however, though it'd be cool if they did come out with a sequel (some of the funniest stuff is in the later books).

MARVIN WAS HILARIOUS. XD

I saw the first half hour. At the theater, they had technical difficulties, so everyone got their money back and a free pass for next time. Oh well. It's free now, but I just have to wait. The first half hour was AWESOME and I can hardly wait to see the rest.

So am I to gather you've seen the film now then, or have you just heard of all this? Oh and whilst you're finding the books and radio scripts, don't forget the TV series, it's like the film but on a lower budget and you've got a bit of the second book in there too (You get to see the actual Restaurant). The guide itself looks a bit different but hey, it's the 80's

Yeah, I saw it. And I saw that it was the same Hammer and Tongs on the UK official site, too. Why do you get all the good official sites (HHGttG, JK Rowling)?

I just saw it a few hours ago. It was great!
I didn't expect the house to be in the middle of nowhere but everything else seemed to resemble all in the book very well. Marvin reminds me of some people on this board. His pessimistic attitude as opposed to the computer's was histerical!

Just got back from this movie, very nice indeed.

I'm interested in checking out the books now. (I haven't read any of them, but I really enjoyed this movie)

It wasn't the best or funniest movie in the world, but it was definently worth the money.

Darth Jakuroth - Hmm.... if anything though the books were EXPANDED from the radio series, not cut down.
