We've probably grown up with gore all our life... I mean, we play shooters, right?

Anyway, I don't know if I am gonna see this or not. I mean, it is ok to have lots of blood, as long as the entire story is good. And apparently, this story is GREAT. But, there is a point when blood becomes excessive and it takes away attention from the rest of the movie for some people. I'm deciding right now whether the movie would do that to me...

I thought about seeing this movie. Then I saw the trailer.

I think I've been a tad too desensitized for one lifetime to see this movie. I don't care how good everyone says it is, I will pass on Ichi.

This is a great film. And yep, very very gory too. But I love that stuff ;o
And yeah if you're not used to seeing gore this can be quite a shocking movie. It can be even if you're used to it. I recomend watching it two times, the secon time hopefully you'll be more used to the violenc and notice that it's a good movie

And Takashi Miike is good. Yup yup.

What. The. Fuck.

I just saw this on Sundance... a friend of mine is all about Takashi Miike's films, but... holy shit. Here's the IMDB page, but it should be noted that this is DECIDEDLY NOT APPROPRIATE FOR ANYONE, EVER.

Plot summary: Mob boss runs off with a ton of money. His loyalists turn Shinjuku over looking for him. With, of course, absurdly gory results. Their methods (well, mostly Kakihara, a sadistic... well, maybe not so much, as we see) scare the crap out of the Yakuza, so they boot them. And speaking of boots, there's Ichi, the titular assassin who has razors in his boots. Which kill with, well, absurdly gory results. Much manipulation, among other twists, ensues... oh, and Ichi's the GOOD GUY. And Kakihara's... well, almost admirably depraved.

Gotta say my mind has now been quite thoroughly fucked. If you can handle the hyperultraviolence, there's some decided black comedy (yes, even IN the hyperultraviolence). But it's not really one or the other. It's... just incredible.
