If you do colored, make the borders of various pieces darker. When I draw something in colored pencil, I usually shade the border of the thing I'm drawing really heavily. |

For that sketchbook effect, why not a shade of paper (well, textured paper probably) with graphite-colored lines. Like watching an animated/moving sketchbook. |

use b/w with a black border and white outlines.
be sure to anti-alais all graphics by using additional greytones to soften the lines and make the lines fuzzy.
that will give it a more sketchbook-like look.
it would also be cool to have two animation frames for every tile (similar to the nintendo logo in yoshis island)
but im afraid thats simply asking too much from smws vblank routine. |

Owwww! No! I couldn't imagine staring at a white screen for more than a few minutes... 
Also, Sonicandtails, YY-CHR DOES have a fill option...see the paint bottle at the bottom of the right-hand toolbar? |

Black and white, just be sure you edit the scoreboard too, looks funny in color while everything else isn't.
EDIT: Forget that I got bored and decided to make a black on white with paint and it looks MUCH better, go with that
(scoreboards messed up but you get the idea) |

Try to mimick anti-aliasing with lesser shades of white and black (AKA gray) so it's not such a harsh jump from white to black. Heaven knows you have plenty of palette spaces left. |

I say Black and White.
It's easier on the eyes. And it looks more "sketchy" than the colored one. |

The colored hurts the eyes. The black and white does, too, but not as much.
It'd probably look a lot better if it was white background with black and not how it is... And you should edit the color out of the status bar, too. |

I say black and white. Ccause who really sketches in color anyway ? Just make it more YI like (not perfectly straight lines), and it will looks awesome!! Good Luck! |
