But losing all your carts sucks even more (I lost all my GB ones, about 20 carts, the games were mostly 100% completed)
I could understand losing game disc's, but carts?
When I moved away, to somewhere else, probably |

Once, I sold my NES and all of the games and accessories.
Then, I realized my mistake some time later and bought it all back. |

Well, I usually keep mine out anyways, and don't really let anyone mess with them.
Honestly, I don't think I've ever lost a game, maybe a Gameboy game or two though ... |

Theft division: When I was in eighth grade, someone broke into our house and stole a ton of stuff. My biggest concern? Genesis? Gone. SNES? Gone. Games? Whatever was out, gone. NES... still there. (I just replaced the SNES a few weeks ago... viva la eBay.)
Destruction of personal property: Third grade (I believe), I snuck a copy of Nintendo Power #20 into school. Teacher saw it and RIPPED IT APART. I had to buy the replacement, too, because the subscription was in my brother's name. |

Pfft. SMW's save file is about as stable as a house of cards. |

Our Super Smash Bros. cart has been missing for, maybe, two years or such. We have no idea where it could be... |

Loss of data? *laughs*
Yeah, I've had that happen to me plenty of times, thanks to my sister. She was ... I think 5-6 years old or something at the time, and she'd just stick in some SNES games and start playing them. Next thing I knew, my Super Mario World 97%percent game was gone, a couple of my 100% games on the DKC games, and much more I'm sure. |

I've had a few games stolen/destroyed. Hence why nobody touches them without constant supervision anymore. And of course made a few dumb mistakes in selling old games. My brother wrecked my SNES too, that sucked but we got it fixed eventually. Probably the worst two I can think of were when my N64 died (just plain stopped working) and when I lost my copy of Yoshi for Game Boy. That game kicks ass and is way hard to find. |

Several years ago, we found out that our Chrono Trigger cart was "missing". We tried looking for it but to no avail. When Christmas came around that yar we found out that one of my older brothers traded it for 3 other games (Populus, DKC, and some other game). We were so ticked.
One time we borrowed Jet Force Gemini from a person. However we lost it. We tried searching for it but could not find it. After a while we decided to buy it and give it to the person we borrowed it from. Later we found that it was inside a chair. |

More sad stuff: When I got Gamecube there was no room anymore for the Super Nintendo. At that time dad had a car(I call almost all automobiles cars) with a tv so I could play it in there. Dad had to get a different car because of the gas milage. Dad said he brang the SNES to his job place. I asked for him to bring it home. He never brought it home...... One of the games I played on SNES while in the car erased. Dad turned the power of the car on while I was playing a game. This somehow caused the game I was playing to erase x.x |

JJ: That's the same way I got Lunar 2, Legend of Dragoon, Goldeneye, and Gauntlet Legends. I did lose Super Smash Bros. in such trades, but I almost never played it anyway since I didn't have any good opponents. =/ |

I used to live in Chicago... this guy was a good friend of mine, wanted to play Earthbound, and so I let him borrow it. I never saw him in lunch periods anymore, nor did he answer his phone, nor could I ever get into his house. What the hell he did after I gave him EB I might never know.
Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. The original. To another kid in Chicago, but I didn't know him as well. Should have figured I would never see it again.
I'm pretty lucky in that region, I've got a really cool friend who's very trustworthy. He's got all of my NES games (which I don't play anymore), and I can be sure that he'll lend anything of his to me, without hesitation. Whenever I was with my brother, he wouldn't lend me a thing, which is understandable :p |

As a complete side note, I just lent out Golden Sun... even after I posted my horror stories
This guy BETTER bring it back one day!!! Who else thinks I am incredibly stupid?
And JJ, the horror story you had was for the OTHER person involved... it had to be a delight for you. |

Brace yourself, my horror story is like none other! Well... maybe not, it's more or less the same as what everyone else has been saying, but with a twist. Here goes.
I had a good buddy in about, oh 6th or 7th grade. We thought a little game trade would be a nice change of pace from our normal routines as you can only play the same games so often before it gets boring. So we agreed to trade a game or two for a game or two every now and again, without our parent's permission of course. Parents could be sticklers when it came to lending out 50 buck games. This was a good arrangement for a while, but as you can probably guess by now, during one trade, my buddy moved away. But here's the clincher (spoilered for the faint of heart!):
Spoiler: I ended up getting to keep Illusion of Gaia AND LTTP! But that isn't even the best part. What he ended up getting to keep was...
(wait for it)
Mario is Missing! At the end of the day, I bet he regretted the trade more than I did. And I guess you can't really call that a horror story, for me at least. |
