Yeah, but it's still original. Although if I had to choose between those two I'd stick with Yoshi's Island, thankyouverymuch.

Replacing koopas with red glowing genitalia might be original but it's still stupid.

Whoa whoa whoa. I'm all for changing the overworld to be more original, but come on bass. Originality is no excuse for ugly neon red, blue and yellow.

I say thatrat the very, very least you have tried. nothing can be better than that. You OW is neat, and only needs a few graphical touchups, but so far it would be better then almost all in that you've put effort into your new GFX. I mean, Damn it! It seems like no-one here but a few people can actually give nice, constructive feedback. just keep up the good work GRAVITEH, and you will do fine.

I don't know what you consider an eyesore... but to me, an eyesore is looking at the same stupid overworld in every single hack out there. This overworld shows far more creativity then just about anything I've seen so far. Even among the hacks with changed overworlds, few to none go as far as to change the tiles themselves.

GRAVITEH, don't let them get to you. A good game doesn' need to have eye candy like the shallow 128-bit prerendered super-3d graphics heavy crap that's on the market today. Games like the origional Castlevania didn't need to be prettied up with tons of pre-rendered vector graphics because the game was origional and FUN. If you like the overworld, keep it. It shows FAR more creativity then the VAST majority of hacks, and I'd like to hope most people would play the hack because of that.

Hehe, thanks for your criticism, good and bad

However, the demo I promised to release, will not be released soon. Don't ask why. It's not because I'm not trying, because I really want to show it to you. The reasons are as follows:

-School
-Wanting to make this better before I release my first demo. I don't want to release a demo of a piss-poor, half-wit, lifeless, stupid, crappy, unbearably ugly, poorly designed hack. At least, not yet.

Agreed. It may not be the most beautiful overworld, but I still like it.

I have to agree with ||Bass on this one. That overworld may be ugly, but at least it's different. Because if I see Yoshi's damn island one more time...

I like your style GRAVITEH, puzzels are always nice, I like the the retro overworld, and the level you designed when you was 8 has a very original look even though no new gfx were used. The only tips I can give you are to add some of your own gfx and some new BGs certainly wouldn't hurt anything.

I don't care what anyone else says. The overworld still shows more origionality then like 90% of the hacks people post screens for. At least this one has SOMETHING different about it. An overworld that looks like it's for an Atari 2600 game is better then leaving the origional one.

Maybe tomorrow. I'll bump this with a link to an IPS. But now, I have to Take a shower, sleep, go to school, and do some finalising.

Then comes DEMO ONE

Elementary my dear Kyouji, the answer is simply "Because I can."

Best. Philosophy. Ever.

Hey! I want a demo! I want to play this thing right now, I'm pretty bored and I bet this is better than most of the hacks that have disgraced this board with their presence.

I'm not going to try anything crazy.

A little puzzle that leads to a keyhole that activates absolutely nothing

My POS overworld

I'm still chugging along. I am aware that the overworld sucks. However, I'm sure my rapidly growing bucket of ideas and level design help keep it good. the first level is a level I drew on paper while I was 8. It's not exact, as it's drawn on normal paper without any lines, but it's really damned close.

EDIT:

This is why 8 year olds do not design levels
And no, moda, not yet. Soon. I need to make this at least halfway decent.
