Those songs were AGES ago, I'm surprised you managed to find them both of them have actualy been done over, along with the other songs of the game, so now it sounds more in consistancy with actual game music. And as for your idea of the trading system, I won't rule it out, especialy if someone wanted to trade between say two different versions of luna and sol and wanted to attach an apricorn for instance. Though it'll probably be the very last thing I work on, I won't completly rule out the idea. Thanks

Well, after reading this topic, actually bothering to go back and find your older topic regarding this and seeing the overall info you've released from your plans on this, I have to say this'll be impressive if you can pull it off to the standard everyone thinks you can. The music you put together in Sappy that there was recordings of in the other topic was brilliant, though I have to say I preferred how you did the intro music to how Ecruteak City came out - still, both of them were awesome. Can't wait for more on this to be released.

Good to hear that the day / night system - one of my favourite features of the original Gold / Silver - aswell as things like the Pok

[I'm not supposed to be on, so forgive me for the breifnes of my reply]

Well it depends really. I've had a little bit of help along the way (my buddy The Chaindog has been helping me out with a couple of graphics here and there). I'm not really looking to make this a group project so to speak, but if you feel you have something to contribute, drop me a PM or something and we'll talk.

Might I help in the project? Pokemon is my favorite game (expecially G/S), and I need something to do over the summer.

Thanks,

Excellent. But if this is released right before my exams and I fail, it's your fault.

'very soon', eh? Sounds like a region of 1-3 months.

I'm sure theres a way to trick the game into thinking that i's simply in a regular Pokeball, quite like how when you trade from colloseum to any other game, it says it was roiginaly caught far away but when traded back it retains its original location...I'll have to look into that, thanks for bringing it up..that seriously slipped my mind

As for what locations are based off...I'll put up a link to a map a little later, it shows where every location in Pokemon would be relative to actual Japan (even has anime movie locals too, quite sweet)

Based of Hokkaido? Awesome! Snowy Winter wonderland ahoy! As for the other regions, I'm pretty sure Kanto is based off, well Kanto. Johto seems to remind me of Kansai, what with all the temples and mountains and caves and all, but I really wouldn't have the slightest idea of where Hoenn is based on. The Sevii islands are probably based off the Okinawa island chain, yeah?

Graah. Damnit..now I want some okonomiyaki. :p...Mmmm.

As for the return of the pokeballs, what are you going to do about when those pokemon are traded? As you know the pokemon display what kind of ball they were caught in...so yeah...that may cause issues in trading. Oh well, having the return of the acorns is awesome anyway.

As for the Mew/Deoxys islands, that's about what I expected. *goes off to figure out how to hack himself a Emerald cartridge to make mew Catchable easily...*, but Still Celebi is cool. (It's the ONLY pokemon I never managed to obtain legitly in the GSC generation..sigh)

And, updated still portraits are more important than the animations, sounds cool. What are you going to see after the 22nd ultraball you've thrown at that Lugia?

Mm..new radio shows! Sounds great.

Ah, more questions. Okie, here I goes..

1. The Pokegear will most certainly return, with all of those features and yes, the radio shows you know and love There may or may not be a few extra channels, too...

2. The balls will be there as will the appricorns. You will have the option of equiping them to a Pokemon, however it will say that it can't be held (the same thing that happens to HMs). The reason I did this is because since those balls didn't exist in RS and FRLG, if you traded a Pokemon holding them, the game would send over some glitchy item, which is really just random data being read from wherever the item would have been. That's not good, since I want to make this as close to an "official" game as I can and thus make it work fully with other games. So, I figured a way around it

3. Well...it's an island, so to speak. Something most people don't know is that every region of Pokemon is actualy based off a real region in Japan! (with the exception of Ore, which is in Arizona. Though the developers even said this, it conflicts with their other statement of it being near Johto, but OH WELL) I'm not giving away too much, but you may or may not find yourself somewhere near "Hokkaido" later on in the game The concept of Diving by using the HM will also make a lovely return most likely in that area. As well as for those other Islands...I'd assume not, I don't find much of a reason to include them. You can already get every Deoxy's form, and Lugia and Ho-oh will be where they SHOULD be. Besides, since the game's story is 3 years after the original, by FRLG's storyline Red would have caught anything worthwhile there anyway. As for Mew..well, I think letting you catch Celebi is generous enough, concidering what NOA did

4. They will not be animated. I contemplated this majorly for about 10 minutes, and then I concluded that RS's Pokemon sprites suck ass through a cardboard tube. The FRLG Pokemon sprite style goes well, since you are all around the same areas anyways. Though, you may have noticed in FR, alot of the Pokemon received graphical upgrades in order to look more closely to Ken Sugimori's "advanced" Kanto artwork. Tediursa was the only Johto to get revamped. I have also taken the liberty of revamping many of the Johto Pokemon's images, to also help match his artwork better. So despite the lack of animations, the battle graphics WON'T be left alone

5. Yes, you will. Though I havn't a clue as to what they'll have, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it XD

Excellent...I'm a tad dissapointed about the bike (Fire red's is WAAY too slow in my opinion), but nothing I can do.

Yet more questions! (God, I'm turning into a journalist!)

Will the pokegear return? Like, all of the functions, Clock, Radio, Trainer Phone Numbers? And if it does, will Buena's Radio Show return? That was cool.

Also, are you going to recreate some of the custom balls that didn't make it into Advance? (Love Ball, Heavy Ball, Speed Ball, Lure Ball, Level Ball..etc)

You alluded to having FrLg style extra islands to visit? What kind of place is it going to be? Or am I just going to have to wait? :p

Do we get to visit Birth Island, or World's Edge Island? (Deoxys and Mew's islands, respectively).

Are the pokemon entrances into battle going to be animated like Crystal, or stationary like every other pokemon game? (I prefer the latter, personally).

Do we get a beefed up second run of the Elite Four, like in FrLg?

Well, that's me done for now. (Don't mind me, I'm a curious little critter! )

Okie, let's see if I can answer these...

1. No, there is no clock in fire red. However, being based off the sourcecode and thanks to the header being identical to Ruby and Sapphire, all we need to do is use clock-specific commands. The game has no idea there is no clock, the header means it can utalise a clock-based cartridge, but chooses not to. When we use the clock commands used in Ruby, the emulator will think that it is being run on a clock cartridge, since it basicly has all those cart doodads already turned on. If the game was flashed on a non-clock flash, it would just act like Ruby does when the clock dosn't function right (The game can still be played but time based events will not occur, blah blah)

2. The TMs, that is, the ones that don't make a reappearence already, will be given to move tutors. I don't plan on having a move tutor for evey TM though...just imagine it similar to how Fire Red did it

3. I might play with a few, but it's doubtful. As of right now, the movesets are near identical, and in alot of cases better than their GS counterparts. Though, like I said, I might tweak a few here and there (Croconaw comes to mind...)

4.That bike is still there, beleive it or not. It behaves like the bike of Fire Red and uses the same graphics, but the item itself as well as the Mach Bike is still there. I see no reaosn to add them back in, it would be alot more work to get their behaviour back in and for what, to hatch eggs quicker? I think it's fine the way it is...it gives it more of that original GS feel of having to wait patiently for your lovely Pokemon

5. My hack will be the first to have an entirely revamped soundtrack. I won't get in to much, just know that there WILL be new music, and I've worked hella hard on it too

6. It may be about the same...since I've based the trainers rather closely to the original, so...but even still, it should provide some sort of challenge like any Pokemon game would.

aaand, that's that.

Excellent. That sounds quite cool so far. Damnit...I'm going to have no space on my flashcart left.

Hmm, just a curiousity, but doesn't Fire Red have no Realtime Clock support? I thought only Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald had it. Regardless, that's not too much of an issue, if it does.

Now for some more questions...

Will the GSC TMs make an appearance as Move Tutors of sorts, or are you going to restore all the GSC TMs into the game?

Will pokemon have new move learnsets?

Are you going to make breeding a more time efficient process by giving us the Acro Bike of RuSa, and some nice routes to go blazingly fast down? (Like Saffron in the Original GSC, springs to mind)

Are we going to see the original music (I know some of it is used in fire red, but not all of it is there)?

Is the difficulty going to be around the same as GSC, or harder/easier?

Well, I'm questioned out for now. *awaits eagerly*

Lucky I was able to sneak a few minutes on to get back to you. Let's see here.

1. Yes, I'm planning on re-implementing RTC support (as this is fire red). This will allow morning/day/night plus wild pokemon to go along, proper espeon/umbreon, and also berry tree growth (this is also going back in, though it might work a little bit different...we'll see).

2. Here's a list of version exclusives. In Sol (Gold), you'll find Growlithe, Arcanine, Tediursa, Ursaring, Gligar, Spinarak, Ariados, Mantine, Zangoose, Volbeat, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftree, Carvanah, Sharpedo, and Solrock. In Luna (Silver), you'll find Vulpix, Ninetales, Phanpy, Donphan, Skarmory, Ledyba, Ledian, Delibird, Seviper, Illumise, Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Corphish, Crawdaunt, and Lunatone.

Now, you may be curious as for the use of Hoenn Pokemon. Fear not, there's a clever use. Much like how Fire Red gave an opportunity to catch select Johto Pokemon on a small island chain, my hacks will have a similar concept

3. I'm more or less going to be following G/S's, in that there won't be Eusine, for instance. However, I still plan to probably include the battle tower, and DEFINATLY plan on having Celebi, the GS Ball, and the Ilex forest shrine all make an appearence.

4. You sure will. I am making this game 100% compatible with Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Emerald, and quite possibly Pokemon Box and Colloseum (I may need to work on that bit a little more, but it isn't my main priority at the moment).

Any other questions you have, feel free to ask.

A GSC Remake, in Advance....that is the most awesome news I've heard in a while.

I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

Are you going to use the RTC to make day/night/morning like the games of old? (And consequentially fix the Umbreon/Espeon evolve times, as well as having timely pokemon capture?)

As far as catchable pokemon go, are you going to make it versionalised like GSC, or are you going to make them all avalible?

Are you going to follow GS or C's story, and if you do follow C's story, do you plan to make Celebi catchable?

Finally, am I going to be able to flash this hack to my flashcart and trade with my other advance games?

*is giddy with excitement*
