I second that request.

This is among the best looking Metroid hacks I seen yet.

I also realise how bad I am at spriting when I look at this hack...

For the love of God, please don't cancel this hack.
It looks really good.

Well I finished Brinstar's tile set, and I got a name for the hack! It's called Metroid: TechnoCrisis. The Space pirates have hijacked a gigantic bio-mechanical ship, but it's slowly on the verge of dying. In a last ditch effort to keep it alive the space pirates have found and captured the last living Chozo and are using it as the heart of the ship. Despite the nature of the Chozo race, Samus will have no other choice but to find the Chozo and destroy it, thus ending the pirates' plans of releasing a flock of Metroid throughout the Galaxy...

Here's some screens of the finished Brinstar tile set:

Just for fun, here's the new Ridley, even though I haven't changed his hideout yet:

Background objects, and animated backgrounds... now that would be awesome. Maybe light glinting off the doors and such.

Dr. Mario, your graphic hack projects are just plain fantastic.

Now if only somebody was able to change the mapper and allow for background objects...

Those look really kickass, good work.

I have to say, the green section of that new door looks rather odd. The black bits make it look like it's a series of vertical stripes, rather than a tubular look.

The new enemy sprite looks interesting though.

That's nice, but you should avoid overloading the gfx with [\\] blocks - it makes me dizzy... Give solid gradient instead of 'risks'.

If you ask me the graphics are a bit Genesisish. Which is good for a NES game.

*stares at screens*

Dude, I don't know whether to hate you for being so much better at making graphics than I am or to applaud you on your excellent work. I'll get back to you when I figure it out.

*still staring*

Ya, It definately looks nice. It looks like you are going for a jungle theme or something. putting the green on top and the rest brown. And darkening the passable objects was a good touch.

Yeah, I was really hoping no one would notice that I accidentally said that I was going to take a dump on Metroid, honestly it was just a REALLY bad typo. Anyways, I made a new enemy sprite and some new doors.

That thread gave us (me and some buddies at my school newspaper redaction) a great laugh when I happened to be browsing Acmlm's on one of our redactional compies... German "kacken" means "to crap", so your thread title could be interpreted like "Inspired to crap (on) metroid".

Anyway, these blocks look fucking sweet. Until now, I didn't even think a thing like actual 3d-y-ness would be possible on the NES.

Yes, I meant hack, but it was kind of late... I changed the palletes like right after I posted those screens. I'm still going thie the green and brown, but I got rid of the blue and made three different shades of brown. Here's just an example of all of the pallettes.

I believe he meant "Hacking" and just mispelled it...but those screens look rather cool.

Although those screenies look cool, I can't comment on them until I know what "kacking" is.

Whoa. That makes me wish the original Metroid looked like that. Damn, that looks fantastic!

*watches with eagle eyes*

Are you going to improve the enemy sprites as well? Because they well and truly need a remake.

Heck, bar not having a background, that stuff looks like early SNES.

That's incredible looking. You're making nes pixel art SHINE right there, buddy. Can't wait to see more. Those blocks almost look like... something DD would use in his SMB3 hacks. I think your color choices could use a little work though. Here's a nice trick you could use. Color sharing. Having some of the background share at least 1 or more colors and then using said colors in varying amounts is a good way to blend your backrounds with one another. What I don't like is the stark different between the dark green and the comparitively light brown, although I can see that brown has a nice dark tone to it.

With all of these sweet Metroid hacks coming out, I started hacking it myself. Right now I'm just doing graphics stuff, but I'm liking what I've done so far.

Here's some shots:
