Speaking of the Open ROM dialog ... the latest revisiton of your build crashes on me before displaying the dialog. Deleting the registry keys doesn't help, (figured it may be caused by the ROM directory or such) so I don't know why this suddenly started happening. I only upgraded from r6 to r7 last night, using the original r7 update release.
Have you heard of this problem before?

Aside from that, I think it would be best if you hooked the open dialog with a child dialog template to allow putting the additional mode settings and whatnot directly onto the standard open dialog, itself. In my opinion, this would be a pretty professional-looking solution.

I also despise the current Open ROM dialog SNES9X uses.
I'm all for the change.

I personally hate the dialog of the original snes9x...I would definently like a standard one, as thats what im use to, and its just alot easier that way...

also, while on the subject of the emulator, last time I downloaded your tracer, I believe its r7 ...when I opened it, and went to file -> Load Game, I would get the "this program has performed an illegal operation"...probably just me though.

I had previously queried you guys about whether you would accept chucking Snes9x's Open ROM dialog in favor of a standard Open File dialog. You vetoed it because the option did not include a means of forcing a ROM to various loading modes.

It is time to revisit that issue. What if I had a standard Open File Dialog, that was followed by a dialog that had the special load options, including the ROM information normally displayed in file browser? Would that be an acceptible alternative?

The benefit of this method over the current all-in-one method is that you would get all the handy features of a standard Open File dialog (better navigation, faster) and reduce the amount of code necessary to maintain it (less code = better). The disadvantages would be that it would no longer all be on a single window and would require two confirmations to open a file.

What do you think?
