You could use the M16-7k method, it works very well.
If you want, I can give you my tutorial, so you can understand it better or my MSN screen name for more help if you don't know something.

Eh, looking over a savestate in YY-CHR, I can clearly see the objects from the background. It's not assembled in a very helpful way, nor does the palette seem to be loading correctly, but the tiles ARE there in an easy to copy format.

EDIT: Here's a screenshot from Tile Molester (which is about 500 times better than YY-CHR by the way) that shows what I mean.

It's in 4bpp planar view (the format the SNES uses), in case you were wondering.

My best advice to you would be to redraw that art yourself. Try copying it from screenshots and arrange everything yourself when done. That creative personal touch may even make the art a little more original. Sure, it's awesome to be able to use art from other games, but a truly original level uses your own art, your own layout, and most of all, that creative personal touch that makes everything better. Just be creative, and let your ideas run free. I'm sure whatever you are planning will turn out better that way.

Hint: Give up.

I have tried myself to rip from Kirby SuperStar... somehow, it won't work. Even in a savestate, you can't get anything to look right except the sprites. I used BGMapper and it usually gives me the tiles of everything with all the palettes... but KSS... the palettes don't match. No palette works for the background or anything but some of the sprites.

Obviously, Kirby is so simple that it is complex. Easy game, yes, but hard to crack.

Original post made by SMWedit:

actually, I don't see them inside the rom, I take a screenshot, and move an 8x8 selection across it, copying all the 8x8 tiles, and avoiding repeats, I paste them all in a document 128x64, I set it to index colored 16 colors or less, and save as a bitmap. I open the bitmap in paint, and copy all, paste in yy-chr, insert to the rom, change the palette, and reassemble.

Try this, I'll try it and this is work. Good luck, I love this Game !

Good luck breaking the compression on Kirby, heheheh. Really, all you can do is manually assemble the tiles.

I've tried to rip this from a save state but it looks like the GFX are still compressed when i open them in YY-CHR
