Schwa, this is looking great! I like how your game emphasizes the different paths you can take to get to the end (of course, devoted back fans will play every level, but...).

The desert map looks particularly nice. That Lakitu level has a nice, different palette going on; let's see more of that!

Sorry Hukka, I forgot to mention that I got Save to work again. Guess what was wrong? I had my Rom labeled Read-Only! CD burning does that automatically. Usually I remember to turn it off, but this time I goofed. *slaps head*

But I have a new problem. I'll tell you what it is, but FIRST...

W2-1. This level is, in my opinion, a MASTERPIECE. Just right in difficulty, no glitches, nice and long but not TOO long, and JUST under the amount of Bytes and Enemies limit. Yahoo for mwah!

Alternative route, if W2-1 doesn't appeal to you, you can take this one instead. It's an autoscrolling obstacle course. There are 2 Venus Fire Piraniahs and 2 Fireball Nipper Plants in this portion of the level. As long as you KEEP MOVING, it's easy, but not unless!

Since W2-1 is easier, what's the drawback of playing it? You HAVE to play W2-3 if you do. This level involves racing the platform to the other side of the sandblocks so you can catch up to it.

Lakitu is after you! This level was difficult to create within the Byte limit.

I used to have a problem here, but not anymore. I just had a bit of trouble getting the level to sink and rise into the oaisis. But it does now, and it sinks a good 6 tiles before it rises again! Great level.

My problem: The overworld is acting up. I have W2-7 and the Castle in the same column, and no matter which one I play it sends me to the Castle. So I moved W2-7 out of that column, 4 tiles to the left, and now it plays a Spade Bonus instead. It's really annoying! I can't get that specific Pointer to do exactly what I want. And the thing is the Pointer is set to the right level, but that has no effect at all!

Please, does anybody have any info on Pointer glitches and what causes them? If I knew the cause, it can easily be fixed. Any help and I'd appreciate it. --Schwa

That's awesome, Schwa! I especially like the screen of the cave with the upside-down Buzzy Beetles.

Anyone know why? If I could get it fixed, this hack would bloom quickly. If not, I'm only limited to dad's, grandparent's and best friend's houses to work on the hack.

Hi Schwa, I'm really not sure why SMB3WS wouldn't enable Save on your computer. However, I'm working on a minor update that keeps the Save As function enabled at all times. There will also be scrolling support for the tilt wheel of modern mice, I hope. I just have to find what I broke in level rendering first before I can release the update...

EDIT: actually, I'll also enable the Save function at all times - there's really not a lot of point in ever disabling it.

Nice! The blackish water with the dark brown everything else in the last one makes it look evil. And yay, runaway fire!

More screens! Judge them, judge well.

Beginning of W1-3. This level's pretty easy, but so are all the World 1 levels when you think about it...

...except this one. 3 words: Con-vey-or!

This is an excellent level, as close as possible to the one I had in my old hack that got eaten. Boomerang Bros. and Green Paratroopas make this level JUST RIGHT in difficulty.

If you like water levels, here's a second one for you. The level WOULD be scrolling up and down, but the Autoscrolling function doesn't seem to be working where I had it. Perhaps if I change the header a bit? BTW, you have to super-jump off the Cheep Cheep when it comes near. The enemy resets if you fail, so it's always doable.

Alternative route to the Airship if the previous level doesn't appeal to you. It's very good.

Tricky level! So far the trickiest. Designing it was tough, though, but it took less than an hour.

World 2 Overworld, one that I'd call 'Desert of 100 Encounters'. I turned sprites off when I snapped this snap, but the level basically has FIVE wandering Boomerang Bros./Fire Bros. to fight. Use the Hammer wisely as there are many possible paths to open, but you only get one Hammer.

Not bad, eh? Eh?

Not an emu problem -- an NES problem. The emu isn't doing anything wrong -- that's just the behavior of the NES.

</technicality>

Besides most emus allow you to disable that behavior and draw as many sprites on a scanline as needed. You just have to find the option for it.

*Cough* beta test *Cough!* Well, if anyone remembers his MM4 hack with those awsome level designs, you'll know that his SMB3 hack won't disappoint.

Looks great, Schwa. I like the screens you put up there. The overworld is one of the best I've ever seen, not forgetting the pallette. The levels also look good, and I'm sure they are: You're one of the best level hackers out there. I hope to see the hack released in the future, I'll play this one, no matter what happens.

About the workshop and save problems on your computer: It could always be that your ROM file has turned read-only. I'm not sure if the workshop detects that, it just tries to save, and since it doesn't work, nothing happens. Also, if you haven't done it, download the latest version.

Oh, and happy birthday! A birthday thread was made for you in General Chat. It is here.

Yeah, it's an emu problem. No biggie, though... Thanks for your support. In reality, there's no possible way I could make my hack anywhere near as good as the levels on my 2-world SMB3 hack that got corrupted... Once you make something that good one time, you can never do it again.

Yeah, I know the screens don't stand out too much... Really this hack so far isn't GREAT, but it is good. I've finished 3 levels of World 1, and will try to finish the Fortress next. Problem: SMB3 Workshop doesn't have a Save function on my computer at home. I moved it from my grandparent's computer to my home computer via CD Burner and recordable CD, hack, IPS files, Rom, programs and all. There aren't really any graphical glitches in any of those screenshots. About the only one you could say had a glitch was the second one,

where the start of the spinny platform is missing. That has to do with NES sprite limitations.

Spectactular Schwa! Its great to see you hacking! Your levels from your other games have some of the greatest design ever, so I can't wait to get surprised by the quality of this hack! Those screens though have what seem to be eather emulator problems, or gfx problems, and im leaning twords gfx, so hopefully fix that. Otherwise looking great, and I hope you finish this hack, because I WILL play it!

Very nice palettes here.

All of the other images, however, aren't really standout. They are nice, however, and I look forward to this hack.

The bit about using the spinning dealies to get past that enemy sounds cool. A bit of a puzzle element.
