Ah, Grave of the Fireflies... I haven't seen it, but I frequently look for it. I have preemptively put it on my list of favorite animes, actually, since it simply can't not be excellent...

I just saw it Wednesday. Saddest movie I've ever seen. I cried. Of course, my grandmother died last week, so I'm very vulnerable right now.

Satsuko is so cute!!!!!!!!!!

We had to watch Invader Zim eps afterwards to cheer ourselves up.

It really makes you feel bad when you know it was the Americans causing all that turmoil.

At least the kids get to be together in the end....

I've known many Japanese-Chinese-Korean Canadians who were detained during WW2 and read rather strongly on that subject. And I feel terrible that other whites like me caused that debacle. That is why Grave of the Fireflies made me just ache on the inside.

I have this movie on DVD, after I saw the film first on DivX and decided I wanted a better quality copy of the film.

It is without a doubt the most thoroughly depressing film I have ever seen, anime or not. That's not a bad thing though either, the film is beautifully done. It was sad watching the kids.. well, be kids... set against that backdrop, and it's sad watching how the people of Japan more or less ignored them

I didnt cry cause im so hardcore, but it really left me feeling all sad and a little depressed.

I mostly like high energy fight scenes and comedy, but this movie managed to keep my attention the entire time. You also really get know the characters and care for them.

Yep. The realism this movie gives off just makes it depressing.

Even so, like everyone who's seen it, I'd say it's easily a great movie.

I didn't cry or tear, but then again I watched the movie with a group of friends.
I'm not saying "Oh my friend are around, gotta be tough" just the fact of other people being there, while watching a movie (for me at least) can kind of change your emotion and concentration on the movie.

Yea, it was a good movie. However, I think that a lot of people overrate it because they think of its lasting image of sadness and pain rather than its quality. I almost cried. The only animated work I've ever cried in was not Japanese or Bambi, for that matter. It was Fox and the Hound. Instead of the perspective being the warrior's like in many of Miyazaki's films, it shifts to a civilian point of view, which I liked.

I rented this Friday. Its a really moving tale about a little boy and his even younger sister as they try to survive in Japan while the Americans are bombing. Theres no real action, but its really good....and really sad

I cant say anymore because I dont want to spoil anything that happens because that would really ruin this movie.
