I've actually tried making a few projects using Game Maker 6 in the past. Never did I have any luck with it though. I even tried making a Mario game using it and ran into millions of problems.
Then that's....when I came up to the open source Mario Engine. It's really good. It's to bad it had to be for Game Maker 5.3a though. And on top of that, if you aren't registered for 5.3a, I think you'll have problems with using the star in the game.

There is an excelent open source mario engine , but it's for Game Maker 5.3a

It's been done, and EXTREMELY well too. Check Veratul's "Mario Worlds", an abandonned project that I helped on. The Mario engine is so good, even Shigeru would be fooled. |

I fail at ROM hacking. So, I'm trying to make a mario bros. game via Game Maker. I'm not using anybody else's engine or anything, so I'll most likely fail, but we'll see... >.>
The one good thing about doing this is, despite starting with nothing, I can pretty much make whatever I want and not use ASM...
So, uh, anybody else done anything like this? |
