Harder? Nah, i have to use the fire flower cheat for every hack i download, cause i suck at playing these games. I can't even play my own hacks!! I'd say keep the difficulty the same- no new enemies or stuff.

I'm pretty sure that's not spamming. Offtopic, but not spam...

Stop Spaming...

Any ways, It might be a good idea to re-make SMW with new graphics but...
SMW is boring after playing it over and over and over again and again,
add some more enemys here and there to make it harder, and mabie add four exits
so it is a 100 exit game(It's annoying how Nintendo only made 96...)

just send a reply if you want that BG, or request a custom BG.

because that hack was not supposed to have much original work. My next hack may have more original work.

First things first, this is a great idea and he should go along with it. I always liked playing SMW, and playing it again with slightly different graphics will be a bit refreshing.

I base them on real pictures.

Edit: fixed link.

Respect for smwedit up 100 pts. !!!

That is impressive. Why do you rips your graphics in that one hack instead of use custom work like that?!

Damn it guys, can't we ever have a normal debate without getting all snippy on each other? So you have a different opinion, good for you. I don't enjoy closing threads, but I will when I must.

For someone who isn't an elitist, you sure act like one towards people.

Nice BG SMWedit, Keep it up! Oh, and please do try to finish this hack.

How the hell can I be an elitist? I'm not even close to knowing enough about hacking required to fall into the 'elitist' category, let alone the attitude required. And I was just saying that if you didn't know how to use secondary exits just a little while ago you're probably not going to be able to manipulate complex graphical systems now.

We have SMW already. We have had several versions that were just slightly different. We don't need any more.

And Kyouji's also right about the SMW to SMB conversion thing. SMW has a completely different engine, and using it to make an old game would be a different experience altogether.

But adding new graphics to a game that we've all played over and over again is just stupid. We're not getting anything new out of this hack, so why play it?

And SMWedit, that's a pretty kickass background.

Trust me, Kario... In my first contact with SMW, I was only impressed by the music. The graphics weren't revolutionary. In fact was a "NES with good colors" look... Disappointing. Nintendo promised to destroy Sega Genesis and I believe that only Donkey Kong Country or Kirby 3 style of graphics would impress me. But I am very critic, so don't be bothered by my comments.

I seriously doubt you were shocked by the GFX in 1991. Back then, the gfx were revolutionary almost. I do agree however, the old levels only look good with the old GFX. I have seen gfx edits with absolutely no other changes, and it just never looks right. If you do it, more power to ya, I think it would be interesting to see new gfx that work.

I truly respect the opinion of Kyouji Craw and understand his point of view. But mine should be respected too. I know that Lunar Magic is very friendly and intuitive - about four years ago I made a hack using LM.

My intention is simple... SMW is a wonderful game, but even in 1991 I was shocked with the simplicity of the GFX. I just want to change this... If someone says: "I want to change the songs of the game, nothing more", that's OK... This is just a Mario hack, don't take a good hobby that serious.

Actually, there is a great difference in the physics of SMB and the physics of SMW, and you had some inventive things in handling things not in SMW. The game plays very differently, so even while I didn't like your hack, I can at least see why people would. Leaving SMW alone and only changes graphics, however, doesn't really change anything worthwhile.

well kyouji, this situation is much the same as when i released SMB. You raised the same argument too. But although there were no new levels in it, and everything was copied from SMAS, people still liked it because of the GFX.

Um. Can I say something here? It's not really that "comprehensive, original graphics hacks" suck, it's just that, um, Lunar Magic makes it really, really easy to throw levels in there, too. Okay, so maybe he's bad at level design but good with graphics, that's not unheard of. So he could get someone else to do the levels, or if he really wanted to work alone, submit stuff to the ExGFX workshop for other people to use (I may not support the ExGFX workshop but hey it's not all bad). The idea of a graphics-only hack simply confuses me. I just can't see how it could possibly be a good idea, or how anyone could think it could possibly be a good idea.

I agree with dan on this one. I'll play any hack that is well made (and even if it's poorly made, I'm not picky), whether it be graphics only, levels only, and everything inbetween.
