And the best way to change the palettes so they look nice is in an orderly fashion. For example, increase the red value by 150%, zero out the green value, and half the blue value. And if you're making one from scratch, be sure to use gradinents (Hold Alt, Click on first color, click on the last color)

What asdf said is how to import palettes from files - if you wanna make your own colours and stuff, go into Level -> Edit Palettes and Colors (something like that) and play around with those colours and see what changes what - I think I'll compile a list of the palettes and make a post about it

EDIT: Oh, I see what you mean now asdf..sorry for my misunderstanding

Well, what kind of palette would you like? A palette someone else made that you can insert, or your very own palette from scratch? Post with that, and I'll try to help the best I can.

And to insert a palette, in Lunar Magic, go File -> Palettes -> Import Level Palette from File... and select the palette that will be used.

I'm not looking for a tutorial. I know how to set up ExGFX just fine. My background is completely finished, and I'll be sending it to the Workshop for you guys at the same time I release my hack. All I need is an 8x8 Tile Sheet of the native YI W6-1 FG graphics. I want to use YI W6-1 GFX for the foreground of my level. It's a desert-level, by the way.

You supply me with the W6-1 Tile Sheet and I can set up the ExGFX all by myself, I promise. Thanks.

Hi guys! I'm attempting to overhaul an old SMW hack of mine, and at the same time I'm adding ExGfx to every level. I have a huge surprise for you guys in store, but it's only half-complete, and I kinda need your guys' help with something...

You know SMW2:YI World 6-1, "Scary Skeleton Goonies"? The foreground is PERFECT to match the background I've picked out for my first levels, and after trying and trying to find the program that'll allow me to rip those graphics, I'm at a standstill. I'm wondering if anyone here has the free-time to do the dirty work for me...

All I need are the native 8x8 terrain tiles from W6-1. The universal YI graphics found in that level and the BG are unnecessary. If someone can get those for me, .BIN or no .BIN (it hardly matters), I would be very grateful. In the meantime, I will be attempting to continue to do it myself and hope for success.

Thanks. --Schwa

P.S. By the way, my opinion of ExGFX is that it's VERY hard and annoying to get set up correctly, but it's worth the wait. You just wait until my FG and BG are side-by-side... Boy, do I got a surprise to show you!

'Sup guys. I'm back from my uh... (checks date) two-month leave, and I am proud to present this:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It's the FG from Gravity Beetle's stage (MMX3) ripped by hand with MSPaint.

Perhaps streetlamps or some other light could work. Perhaps something to be added onto the bricks, such as a regular window or some other window.

Yeah, I normally take screenshots with a filter turned on, mostly because back in the day everyone used to complain when I took regular old screenshots. They work well with my sets because everything is always so flat shaded (a style I do on purpose). You can't please everyone.

Nothing major to see here, but notice the slanted edge pieces and the bend in the grate. Both don't really serve much function (well, the grate does if you choose to make the grates climbable like I did in this screenshot), but they look nice and add flavor to the overall set. I especially like how the jagged piece on top of the blue platform worked.

Oh, and does anyone have any ideas for other little doodads you'd like to see in this set? I've still got some room to squeeze other things in. Not much, mind you, but I'll do what I can if your suggestion totally rocks.

It's a screen filter. They look good in the case of something like JJ's graphics, but tilesets that use more colors nearby could look ugly.

The set's aren't bad but I hate how some people have blobby watercolor images.

The basic platform scheme set up in Vanilla SMW is so good that I can't improve on it. This benefits the level designer because you don't have to relearn any new tricks of the trade. Blue plaftorms work like ledges in SMW. The little fence dealies are mostly climbable.

Not much to see here besides the slopes I set up. Notice how they sorta curve before leveling off. Nifty. Red platforms are like cement blocks in that you can't jump through them like you can with the blue variety.

Holy shit, those are awesome.

Don't hold off on this set like you have all the others...
