Windows Me (which is still essentially Win95/98) is built on DOS. Tell me that you're going to get secure on that. ~_~ |

Every user in Win9x automatically has admin status, since there is no user management like in Windows 2k/XP and others, also like some other operationg systems |

Clicking Cancel can be disabled, though with some clever file replacement it's possible to get into the registry editor and enable it at the login prompt. That doesn't seem to be a big issue here though, as long as you can keep it running. (Good luck. ) I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'operating system password' though... Is it the login prompt that comes up when you start up? If you're logged in as admin you should be able to disable that, it might ask for the old password though. Worst case scenario, you can always just brute-force it. |

Windows 95/98/Me have ZERO security.
Click the Cancel button . I'm not sure, but you probably can disable the prompt with the "Users" control panel item. |

I've forgotten the operating system password for my computer, which uses Windows ME. How do I reset/remove the password? (I'm still logged in now, so I have full access to the Control Panel and everything else, if that helps.) |
