I'm just curious. Have you posted this at any Castlevania Message boards? You should try the one at the Castlevania Dungeon. That's probably the best castlevania message board. There's some A-holes there but don't let them bother u.

Well you don't like the character design, tell Konami not me. They made the sprite (although I had to redraw it all by hand so it would work in CV1) And I would make an Alucard game, but I actually like Grant more. I'm on a little break from this hack though, I got a little side tracked with the new version of Zelda Classic.

The new sprites look good. The mudman thing looks pretty good especially. I've never seen a mudman jump tho.

I might not be giving away as many screen shots as my last Castlevania hack, because I just thought of a cool new way to show off how the game looks... *drum roll* TRADING CARDS! That's right, I'm going to be showing of the hack with trading cards, well the gfx portion of the hack at least. Here's the first two, made for the first two levels.

Nice idea to relase different difficulties. I don't know if you need the one that gives you infinite health tho. If the game is that hard for people let them enter game genie codes.

Here's some small updates, just so I don't lose my thread.

I made a new enemy to replace the knight, I also went back to blue as opposed to green, just because it's more flattering to the sprites I'm making.

The Hooded Spectre

I'm also going to be releasing three versions of this hack with different styles of game play, for people that are turned off by how hard Castlevania is, or can't beat it, but want to see it through to the end anyways.

Version one- "Normal" This is the hardest difficulty. The enemies are much faster, but to balance it out the holy water is more powerful. It travels along the ground untill it leaves the screen. The damage will also stay the same instead of increasing like it normally does.

Version two- "Easy" This version plays more like classic Castlevania. Normal holy water, and normal enemy speeds

Version three- "Daddy, can I play now?" This is the easiest difficulty. It will have the gameplay of "Normal" but you will have infinite health and lives.

Off-center three-dimensional viewed-at-an-angle hipster question-mark blocks = GOOD!

Well the thing is, is that it's not Medusa anymore. I'm not going to have as many of the classic bosses in the game anymore, because you're going after another vampire, so I figured there wouldn't be as many of the same old faces. But, it would be nice to get that sprite data.

Green for meduas wouldn't be a bad thing at all. I'm pretty sure their two main types are green with blue face and green with orange face. In the Castlevania hack I'm working on they're green (both the regulars and the boss) and that's working fine so far.

It's unfortunate that the laptop that I work on my hack with is currently in for repairs, because I also have sprite data information on some of the bosses on there (I'm not 100% sure Medusa's documented, but I could find it in a matter of hours if I don't have it yet). I was planning on keeping it to myself before I had the majority of it all written out, however I could let you in on some of the sprite data locations. With them, you could just switch which palette the medusas use then, and it's be no fuss.

I don't think that anyone would have a problem with a green medusa right? Well, its your choice anyway, the spritework is looking pretty good.

Yeah, I was going to make them the green color, but then I thought ahead a little bit. A lot of sprites in this game share the same pallete throughout thhe entire game, so if I make the green a to of other sprites will be green. The main thing that prevented me from the green color is that Medusa shares that pallette at one point, so it would screw up the colors of that boss.

Well, I do like the spritework for the zombie but the coloring doesn't seem very SOTNlike. U know zombies are supposed to have green skin right? The grass pattern underneath the Zombie is pretty sweet tho.

I've begun spriting, just to take a break from all the heavy level stuff, and I decided that I'm going to be basing the enemies off of what they looked like in Symphony of the Night. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Here's the new Zombies.

Man, those graphics are awesome looking for the level. Except for the knight sprite, I can hardly recognize it as Castlevania 1 (even though the level layout hasn't been changed yet... at least in the scene with the knight).

Heh, just realized the reason why the title screen looks so good. The sides are skulls.

Update Time!

I Made it redder, and made a new moon. I think it looks a million times better now.

Here's a glimpse at the next tileset I'm working on. It's "The Haunted Village"

I know it's not my Castlevania hack, but this is what I'm doing whenever I'm fresh out of ideas. It's called Escape from Goomba Island. It features a full Goomba theme, as in all the enemies are different types of Goombas.
