I really like the progress you've made with SMB3, this looks fucking sweet! I'm wondering how your gonna pull this off...

This reminds me of a SMB hack that has toad from SMB2, but I forgot the name, oh well. Keep it bro, I'm liking this hack.

Ah the Kuribo shoe, that reminds me ... have it in more than one level.

Hey, it's only the best powerup in the game, right? =D

I just got done doing some well-needed graphics work.

Gone are the diagonally-striped hills. There are new bricks too. And when a vine comes out of the block, the animation of it going up is now shaded so it doesn't look bad.

I put the X-block graphics back in. I didn't like the new ones I put.

I put the original wooden blocks back in. This was definately needed, since the new ones looked like crap.

Here are two screens of a desert level I made from scratch a couple days ago.

If you can find the Kuribo shoe, you can access the top of the level by going over the plants, getting a nice little reward for your trouble.

As I said, new bricks. I used those in my SMB1 graphics hack.

Rockman, I must say, you've done a lot of growing up, and a lot of improving on your hacking skills. Your hack looks very well done. Keep it up.

I have done a lot of work on it recently, so I'm happy to say that the hack is 20% complete. I have been making a lot of new levels from scratch lately.

Honestly Rockman looks pretty cool, it's been awhile since I've actually played a hack. Then again, it's been awhile since I've actually seen a completed hack.

Judging by your past history on TEK Hacks Rockman, please finish this one. It's looking good.

Also, I really liked the first picture HyperHacker quoted there myself.

Toad WILL NOT be Player 2. You will see.

Toad is my main focus right now though. I'm working on having him jump shorter than Mario, and run slightly a little faster than Mario. Also, Toad will have his own special weapons.

Also, I have planned a Story feature that I am confident I can code. Basically what will happen, is during the adventure, Mario will get killed off, and Toad will have to finish the Adventure. Well, maybe Mario won't get killed, but he will definately be out of commision.

Verrrry interesting.

Will Toad be player two, an alternate option for player one, or some weird combination of the two, like Toad only being playable in certain levels?

Good news about Race Against Time!

World 1 is finally complete!

World 3 is almost complete as well!

World 2 is almost halfway done!

The public demo will consist of World 1, 2, and 3. And this will also be the only public demo. The rest of the game you'll have to wait until the hack is finished.

I have some new stuff I want to tell about.

Toad may be a playable character alongside Mario. I'm just starting to work on him.

I have to adjust the palette, and finish putting the sprites in.

Pics from various levels through Worlds 1 - 3.

Also, I still have a lot of touching up to do, and some graphics are subject to change. I don't know if I like the new wooden blocks, or the bricks. The wooden blocks just don't fit in. And the bricks (shaded differently), I'm going to use graphics that I did in my SMB graphics hack.

Yah, I know was going to lay off the pics, but I have been working a lot on this lately, and this is a big update.

Actually, if it's just the constant need for creativity that gives you trouble, do what I do. Plan out every aspect of it before you actually make it.

Well I can understand the real-life issues thing, but really, if you took the combined efforts from your past 5 hacks and put that effort towards one hack, you'd have a completed one by now.

What you could do, is make 2 worlds be timed based, like Race against time, then switch things up in the next two worlds, thus you wouldn't feel like you're working on the same hack. I constantly add new ASM hacks to my hack so I have an incentive to do a new level.

Personally, I find level design to be one of the most fun parts, as long as the editor doesn't suck. The only problem I have is that one of the games I'm working on doesn't have a good editor (and I haven't been able to get mine working), and the other is giving me a lot of ASM-related trouble.

Sorry, but thats the way it is. ROM hacking isn't easy. I want to see awesome levels in my own hack, but sometimes I'm lazy, and working on levels is a pain in the ass. And the thing with Race Against Time, is that I have to add tons of coins to each level to make the level complete. Plus, there are other real-life things. Like, I'm going to be moving pretty soon, and I'm thinking about going back to college and working with another job. Even this hack, I don't know how far its really going to get. I am actually thinking about cancelling Apocalypse and just making a Super Mario Bros. 3 remix hack. Improved original graphics, remixed levels, and few other small features. It could be me, or it could just be that Super Mario in general is too much of a project. But, I have seen people like Googie, Frank15, and Ringodoggie throw levels together like they are nothing. Everybody's different. I'll do what I can. I could ask people to help me with levels, but I have to be the one that is doing majority of the levels, being its my hack, and I haven't really completed a hack before on my own.

I had more luck with Megaman than I am with SMB3. I actually got halfway through the damn hack. Right now, considering the work I have done so far, Race Against Time is only 10% complete. Most of World 1 is done, and I have done a few other levels in World 2 and 3. Plus, some graphics changes and ASM hacks. I still have a long way to go on it. But this is not something I'm going to stress over. I do this as a hobby when I feel like it. I really want to bring to gamers a hack that is complete and fun in every way, but if it doesn't happen, sorry. I'm laying off the pictures and info from now on.

Not bad. I'd be a lot more enthusiastic if I had ever, in my life, seen a hack go from 'temporary ice' to 'complete'.

Yeah bro, it's always good to have a side project when your working on a major hack, Waluigi's Adventure was a side project for me & look how that came out. I would play this hack also, the levels you hacked looks intersting enough.

Don't want to burn yourself out on the Time Attack .

Looks and sounds like a simple enough diversion from Time Attack (and more like a regular SMB3 hack) to get back to the basics having level design without keeping the time limit in mind as much.

Remixing doesn't take as much time as making completely new levels, so work on this project should go extremely quick.

Can't wait for you to finish Time Attack, but for a side project, sounds good.

*Also, could you PM me about ... a few things?*
