It said "Parser message cannot create " line 518" or some number. Turns out it was problem with the visual style I was using. Went and changed that, uninstalled Java, reinstalled Java, and it all works great now. Thanks guys.

Was it the "Uninstaller cannot be found" error?

Or do you mean the add/remove programs dialog won't even open?

Well, went to download and install, it said that version was already installed. Turned it back on, its still fucked.

Okay, what's gone wrong here is that your Java "VM" (Virtual Machine, the small program that runs the Java applets for you) is more or less fucked up. Download a new one from Sun at java.com and try turning Java back on and see if it works. Or just leave Java turned off of course, but you'd be in trouble if you had to use a Java applet later on.

Hey thanks, that fixed it. The serial site works as well.

That's true, but he's reporting sites whose windows *close*, without explanation. I've never had a popup blocker *close an existing window* on my ass. But if it only happens on the IRC page here, it might very well be related to Java applets. (And before anyone confuses these: JAVA, NOT JAVASCRIPT. THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.)

Try turning Java off in your browser and go to the IRC link again, and see if it still closes.

Well, the site has worked fine in the past. If you want I could PM you the address to see if it messes up for you too, but the IRC link at the top here shuts it off too.

Try copying the URL of the site and replacing 'http://' with 'view-source://', this will let you look at the code to see if anything funny's going on with it. (Given that it's a "serial site", I wouldn't be surprised if it is some form of malware that scanners aren't picking up.)

OK, have this problem on both IE and Firefox, so I am pretty sure it isnt a browser specific problem. I have WinXP Pro SP2 just in case you need to know. Some sites I go to, close the browser. When I click on IRC Chat, the window closes. A certain serial site I go to, closes the window. No warning, it just disappears. I have run ad-aware, spybot s&d, my virus program, even turned off my firewall, and nothing happens. Any suggestions?
