Just an update for those interested. I stepped down to work on the Compendium back in September, and currently, the project heads are fixing up the demo for a release some time in the future. I hope everyone enjoyed the demo despite its flaws.

Bug: If you go to the lower-left corner of Crono's House, you end up in ~2300 AD somehow.

I think we left the Gato statement for winning as it was, so it might not be worth it. Man, when I got home yesterday at 6 PM, I sat down and didn't get up for the next 6 hours really. I wish I would have had more time to perfect the demo; I didn't count on not having a Saturday at all this weekend, and I had total about 45 minutes to beta test it like a mother. I really wanted to put in a boss fight with a couple Guards, but I wasn't able to get it in. Eventually, my tinkering got the best of my latest rom, so I lost a couple changes. So far:

-Try as I might, I couldn't get that Overworld event sequence with the fair and balloons
to be bypassed.
-Mayor's manor dialogue is glitchy.
-Telepods are still there. I was creatively bankrupt concerning what to do with that part
of the fair.
-The year graphic is still 1000 in the bottom right.
-Crono's swipe at the Porre guy has no sound effect.*
-Sealed Pyramid still plays Belthasar music, and has a chest.*

*These were fixed, but were lost when I accidentally messed up a version.

The Crono swipe problem is actually hilarious because I talk in my interview about how it "makes the scene." ARHthg

And thanks for the square template griffin; I had to edit over it but it saved some time.

Playing it now; the reinstrumentation is great! (Except for the Vanguard Post, which is less-than-stellar...)

Minor glitches and other comments:

* At the Mayor's House, the dialogue box for the guy who teaches you about shelters reads "Yes" and "No!T", and the answer to the latter is "!T". Several people on the second floor say this too.

* Fiona's Shrine looks nice, especially the altar.

* If you take the Power Tab in the Porre barracks, the "regular" town music starts playing. On the second floor, the stuff on the table seems to float over Crono's head if you walk past them. They need to be moved to the back layer. Same for the left side of the table and the left side of the stairwell in Porre Square.

* Medina Auxiliary and Medina Station are so close together that you might miss one of them.

* Love the negotiator's way of speaking!

* Is it worth hacking my stats so that I can beat Gato?

* Can't wait for the real version!

Done with the demo, that was pretty good, can't wait for the full release, but that will take a while. I just wish I was part of the team and part of making. Good job xZeaLitYx. You have improved. You're the man. Great job for the people who did the music and other changes. Keep up the good work.

THE DEMO IS OUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

CHRONO TRIGGER: CRIMSON ECHOES DEMO & INTERVIEW

Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes is a rom hack of Chrono Trigger, primarily made by Temporal Flux, that aims to tell a new story featuring Crono's original team. The demo is finally ready, and poetically, suggests that as Trigger hits its tenth birthday, it's being reborn in the form of a new game! After you download the demo, check the readme for instructions on how to play it, and if you have any questions, hit the Feedback thread. You needn't be registered on the forums to ask a question. Well, let's get to it!

Download the demo

Secondly, an interview has been posted about the demo that should answer most of your questions concerning Crimson Echoes. Check it out here!

I've been reading the threads about this at the Compendium (I go as Epsilon there) and I have to say, this hack looks absolutely amazing...

Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes Music Reinstrumentation Begins

Temporal Flux allows users to change the instrumentation of Chrono Trigger songs. In order to make the soundtrack fresh for the upcoming mod Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes, a contest is being staged to produce the best reinstrumentations of songs possible. We'll go down a list of songs. When a few reinstrumentations are collected for each song, we'll have a vote and decide the best pick.

Here's an example: Peaceful Days CE.spc

Adding new instruments is easy. Simply use the CT editor Temporal Flux, available here, and follow the instructions in this thread. We'll be rapidly going down the list of songs; simply e-mail .spcs you create to chronocompendium@gmail.com . Let's see how fresh we can make the music!

I like it because the room looks dark and the floor plan also looks dark. Love the work xZeaLitYx. Keep it up.

I'm attempting the new Cathedral in preparation for the demo. One of the things that Temporal Flux is suddenly allowing is the decompression of Chrono Trigger. Towns, dungeons, simple things or grand masterpieces can now become bigger, more immersive, and even more welcoming to creativity.

Suggestions needed. The curtained door in the upper right leads to a...what, rectory? Some place behind the main chapel where quick studying is done, but not quite a study.

This won't be a rehash of 600 A.D., by any means. Besides the main chapel, it will be entirely new.

The old Compendium is back, minus the forums. Once the new site launches, the Encyclopedia will be stripped down and fulfill its intended purpose. http://cc.herograw.com/

I'd like to simply copy an Object A and paste it over again in the Event code. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V should be enough. I am not having any problems with it here.

Sure, if you're up for it. If not, it's fine. This time though, make it down and dirty; there isn't a fair going on. Try to encircle it with that wall, and include at least a couple grassy patches. Don't forget that some walls are Layer 1 objects.
