I RARELY talk to my new found second cousins
The last thing I heard was that the one that works in Microsoft's effective X-Box R&D Division down there told me that most of the rumours you're hearing are false...And that some wrong info is being leaked in order to get anticipation uppity up. |

And when was the last time you gave us any exclusive scoops, Ziff? Anything, good or bad, would have been appreciated. |

Or give big certificates saying "You got punk'd!"
Don't worry Kirbs, it's just that vidja games are very close to me...And given the familial connections I have in Silicon Valley, I'm pretty tight with the industry. Although I don't have any blood with them, my cousins girlfriends both have family that works in the Valley. |

No way, NP's best April Fools joke was the "announcement" of Super Luigi 64.
Anyway, I'm sure Nintendo will do something for preoders of this new Zelda... They could always give us Zelda 1 with the BS Zelda graphics (only with a better sprite for Link than the one hackers have put it) or do a totally new graphical overhaul of it. Or they could give Zelda 2 a graphical upgrade... Or throw Link's Awakening and the two Oracle games on a Gamecube disc. |

Emptyeye: You talking about the actual new Zelda? It was mentioned in some interviews this week that there WILL be a special edition of the game for pre-order - what's included is anyone's guess. |

I still wonder why people don't see the age diffrences between thoose two links. I mean, half of the story is about the kid's birthday, here is a on the edge of being adult.
Wind waker wouldn't work with thoose graphics anyway, right? I actually find it sad how many people that get's their hopes up.
Well, I do prefer the graphics style in the newer Zelda somehow, but I wouldn't get happy if they did a complete overhaul of an old one like this... |

No word yet, but they really don't need any promos to sell the game in question.
It was funny that two of the guys at work didn't know about the joke. One, I sorta figured that he didn't know, but the other, is always looking into game info, and when he came into work all happy about it one day, well, I just had to crush his hopes. |

I still say the best part of the sheng Long trick was the fact that A. They printed a "spot the April Fool's Trick!" contest DIRECTLY BELOW IT, and B. Some Hong Kong magazine decided to flagrantly break copyright law and reprint the trick without permisssion, thinking it was real.
And I seem to remember them printing it in the very next issue, but perhaps I'm wrong about that. |

How does it hurt Nintendo? If anything, it just hurts EGM since they're the ones who end up having to admit their guilt.
The Sheng Long trick was tremendous. They waited for MONTHS to reveal it because Capcom enjoyed the extra quarters going into the machines. |

It hasn't been announced yet. Wait for a solid release date first.
Ziff, it was not my intention to insult you... I just realize that not every person sees this the way those in the industry currently feel about it. I don't expect you to feel the way they do either, that's a pretty standard response that a lot of consumers have-- they don't care. It doesn't concern them; it was funny, even. However, I've been talking to a lot of people lately who disagree with EGM's haphazard deicision to print that. It will be a big let down to a lot of expectant gamers who still are expecting to walk in there at the begining of next month and pick up their game.
Kind of sucks too... To think of a really younger gamer, getting all excited about it and passionately looking forward to it, and being let down. Especially since some uninformed stores are spreading the news unknowingly, as I stated in one of my above posts. Sorry, but I just can't see what EGM did as being decent, in any sense. |

We've been getting people into the store asking for their "free game". Oh, how hard it is not to laugh in their faces. |

How are they hurting Nintendo? Nintendo's sure to get more money from people preordering it. If anything, EGM will be the one to take the fall. |

Well, I don't expect the common gamer to understand the extent of which their stupid article's damages have reached.
In any case... I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't on such good terms with EGM at the moment.
If it were real, LOTR Kart Racing probably would have sold well... Despite all ridiculousness. Hell, if they can make a Star Wars LEGO game... |

Cry me a river!
I had my hopes up for that LOTR-Kart racing. It was so stupid it had to exist! |

EGM is really hurting Nintendo with this. I walked into one of the EB Games locations close to me, and the employee was telling people about the pre-order deal. Even the employees are believing it, and they are getting other people to trust it too.
Last year's EGM prank, Lord of the Rings Kart Racing, was a some-what funny joke. This, however, is no joke. It's just a really horrible thing to do to Nintendo. |

Originally posted by Tamarin Calanis Yes, but my point in bringing that up is that someone might like a graphics style in one viewpoint, yet dislike it in another. Very possible.
Indeed, although going so far as to say the graphics are 'crappy' is a bit much.
HH, you really don't see the similarity? Check out ALttP again, check out the soldiers running in the air before they fall down pits, check out Link's expression when he dashes into a wall or falls down a hole, check out the waves in the water and the bright crisp colours, and the bizarrely shaped trees with simplistic little patterns in on the trunks and leaves.
There's quite a few similairites once you really start looking at the graphical style of ALttP. Most people let it wash over them because they're so used to it. |

Actually, it looks quite good in 2D. Though I really don't see a lot of similarity between LttP and WW's style... |
