The DivX codecs worked fine on WMP although I want to get rid of that watermark. It's only there for 20 seconds, but GEEZ is it ever annoying.

Speed/sync seems fine though.

I usually use WMP 6.4 to watch the vids...they're usually a lot better than playing them in Winamp...actually that's how I play all of the AVIs I have. Might try that.

Yeah, I decided to not be dumb and read their FAQ, they mention ffdshow for Winamp for Windows users, which I found here. The movie still plays pretty crappy, like it has all that multi colored compression stuff. And when the player goes to the next room or something, the background of the old level is still there until the player walks in that spot and "cleans" the area around him with the new level's background. I don't know if that is the movie or the ffdshow plugin though. I managed to see the movie OK enough though, pretty kickass.

Well they actually are people going through the game, it's just they're doing it a rate of 2 FPS (out of 20...for some reason Famtasia doesn't go more than that...hence the chopiness of the vids).

It's basically one of those entertainment things...funny as hell to watch.

Even though most of them are fake, I'm garunteeing they are cool to watch.

The Metroid Prime speed run is literally insane if anyone's seen it, very real though. I think it was 2:47 minutes if I'm not right? The major trick was you can backwards jump when you first land on Tallon IV and get the Space Jump boots at the very beginning of the game.

I've also seen the Megaman 2 video, no way is someone that good at a game, but it is cool to watch.

And most speed runs I've watched required DivX, don't know why though...

Pretty cool site.

I went there and tried downloading the Castlevania movie. I swear I downloaded it all the way, but when I try to open the movie in Winamp, only the sound plays, I don't see any video. Is there a way to get .avi files working with Winamp? Or do I need some other player? I'm using Win98SE.

Yea...they said so on the site...and if you look at the one by Metroid...you can clearly tell the difference between one of their speed runs and one of the ones in say TwinGalaxies records...

I saw it from Toastyfrog's site. With the magic of emulator-slowdown, I can't exactly say they have blazing fingers, but they certainly do put quite a lot of thought into the way they play.

What the... there's a way to beat Atlantis?!? *downloads*

(It would have been Super Pitfall II in the States, but it was canned.)

Oooh.

I'm grabbing the Bionic Commando one right now, I never did get too far into that game...

I assume the majority of you who're in emulation even a little bit have heard of the SMB3 time trial vid that dealt with beating the entire game in approximately 11 minutes and getting 99 lives using the emulator Famtasia...well I did some digging and found that...that's not the only thing these people have been doing as of late:

Check here.

It's gets updated rather often...the FMV files are on hand but they also have BitTorrent links to AVI files as well...I mean if you wanna see games like the original Super Mario Bros. or Metroid or Megaman being done in extreme amount of times...I implore to go here and take a look if you haven't already...
