Hmm, come to think of it, I'm going to need to disable that effect on the OW. Anyone?

Thats right, too. Wouldn't you just need to change the pointer to fix the sound problem if you disable the effect on the OW?

I know what you mean, I just forgot about it. Though it might not work either, since the game loads different sound effects on the overworld...

Yes there is lightning used in the overworld. turn off layer 3 and look at the star world clouds. That's the lightning effect I'd like to use.

I know BMF wrote his own lightning routine... Using the Bowser one doesn't work so well because it tries to overwrite the sprite data.

Hey!

Yea, I was thining that because I don't need the lightning routine, I could remap the palette entry it overwrites and disable it on the overworld, just using it in levels only to change the BG colour.

that'd be real handy becaue SMB's W8-4 is supposed to have lightning outside the window!

Yes, BMF used a lightning routine and so did blackhole. But they custom coded it because the fact that the code just would not work when you call it. I tried it and didn't work...

You would have to code in your own lightning routine if you want it to be perfect.

Using the lighting thing in normal levels would make it more interesting...

And mind-numbing since you see it flash every once in a while. @_o;;

I'm no hacker, but theorically it COULD be possible, but then again, I haven't seen any of the map palattes in normal levels, so...

Hey!

two questions:

1. would it theoreticlly be possible to change which palette entry is changed by the lightning routine for the Bowsre's Valley submap to colour 00, and use it in a normal level, and

2. if so, what is the address/ colour entry needed to call it with BMF's palette ASM control patch?
