*sniff* You lucky PS2 owners. I have to be content with still slowly working my way through GT2 (which is still good with its 500+ cars and that).

*checks car list*

...You know, it would be nice if they tossed in a few Lada's and Skoda's for a laugh one day.

Well, I got Gran Turismo 4 on the release date here in Australia.

One thing I was pleased to note is that Holden is in there under Australia (and not just their direct rival, Ford-Tickford.). This pissed off a lot of people when it wasn't there in GT3, so I wonder if the backlash caused Polyphony Digital to put Holden in there.

I'm absolutely amazed at the sheer amount of cars. I'm happy just going through all the cars that are in the game!

As for the gameplay itself, I still suck at Gran Turismo (always have, never stopped me liking it) but I am sooo, soo happy that they have bought back my favorite track -- The High Speed Ring.

Graphics look good, but I didn't think it was that much of an improvement over GT3 really. A couple of really well done small touches make all the difference, but I didn't notice any HUGE differences. Looks great. I love the fact that the people move, and little things like that.

All in all, happy with the purchase. And even though I never get as much out of the GT games as the "car people" do, I still enjoy them, while I bounce my car off the walls around the entire course.

Good thing I don't drive like that in real life -- I wouldn't have a car / be alive for long.

GT2 is supposed to look great when using the PS2's improved PSX hardware emulation. Other games that work well include Vagrant Story and Metal Gear Solid

Eh, GT2 has Arcade and Sim modes although Sim mode is pretty much your RPG portion of the game. It's not super-ultra realistic, at least then.

(Course, if you want to use manual transmission...)

Sounds nice, but I really don't like the realistic kind of racers... They're always boring and hard.

800+ cars would sell me if I had a PS2. I'll just stick to GT2 which is an excellent game in its own right (with tons of cars as well).

The endurance races though... can't do them. Nope.

I'm still a Gran Turismo girl, ever since the first arrived. It's simply a magnificant game.

You can say what you want about the grahpics, they're still the best graphics on the Playstation, a fitting testament to Polyphony's legendary skill to get the absolute maximum out of both machines. The gameplay is always firmly behind the graphics too... The development team make sure that the game will keep your attention for as long as any RPG, and rival many for depth.

I still haven't bought any of the Burnout games, simply because they just don't appeal to me after GT. GT is the ultimate celebration of the car, and it's a true labour of love. Such things are rare now in modern gaming, and anyone who loves motorsport or racing games needs to play Gran Turismo.

Gameplay > graphics.

Still fun, just... way too much hype. It will die down in a month, tops.

Never really a big fan of the game. It was really good, don't get me wrong, but just didn't appeal to me for some reason.

Graphics and physics wise, I'm sure it's solid as a rock, but going in loops forever just doesn't excite me that much.

Honestly the backgrounds in the game kind of bother me, sure they look great, but you can almost completely tell they're backdrops.

Other than that I can't really say I've played much of the past GT games, but recently watching an episode of Icons on the series made them seem interesting, and I've heard so many stories about GT3 from my friend, I'll probably play it someday.

But yeah, other than the backdrops, the graphics seem amazing and the cars are incredibly detailed, something you'd easily see on an Xbox or so.

Grand Turismo 4; the game said to come out last year is finally here. And to actually sell it today, we have to pick up the shipment from a Miami store.

I've seen the footage, the commericals, and it looks 100% real. Hopefully the actual feel and gameplay are just. It had better be, for the wait.
