I've only read Fear and Loathing from him but... *glances at bookshelf* ...I have more choices.
Terrible news. Then again, it didn't surprise me that Hunter would choose to go out like this. Certainly less so than other celebrities. |

Yes, and I hope to god that more people will learn about him. |

"There goes one of God's own prototypes...too weird to live, too rare to die."
HST was one of my few true heroes. I suppose this is how normal people felt when JFK or Princess Di or Kurt Cobain died. I want to down a bottle of Wild Turkey and go out and shoot at rocks, I want to howl and rage and cause a crazy righteous shit-fight - fuck them, the god-damn brutal pigs, we are right and good and we will prevail! I won't, but that's the sort of feelings HST stirs. The world has lost one of its purest and most righteous beacons of righteous sanity.
Like thousands or millions of others, I wanted to be like him. Fearless, angry, brilliant, iconic. I think we all secretly thought the mad bastard was immortal. But alas, even warriors have to die. |

Sheeeeeeee-it.
According to his son, gonzo journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson shot himself at home Sunday night. He was 67.
As your local mod (of another forum, but whatever), I advise you to read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. NOW. |
