The camera panned out on Janus' body, crumpled in a fetal position, as he sobbed just a little more. He couldn't help it. It had been hundreds of years since he had shown a moment of weakness, and now it was all pouring out...

Grey: "What.... happened...?"

The battered P.I. picked himself off the ground and gasped upon seeing the football-field-sized blast several hundred feet away. He heard Janus' sobs, and dashed through the grass, ignoring his wounds, until he found his friend. There lay a strong man, reduced to nothing but an infantile mass...

"Janus... Are you ok? What's wrong? What happened? Who did this to us?"

Grey reached down and touched Janus' shoulder, trying to rouse him from his state with a light shake of the torso. Janus was snapped to attention, and looked Grey straight in the eye from his spot on the ground.

Janus: "You're alive, still... Good."

Grey: "Who did all of this? Was it Odin?"

Janus: "I'm beginning... to think.... we did it to ourselves."

Janus got up off the ground, staggering to his feet. Already his regenerative abilities were taking effect again, restoring his body to its original state of being. There was no way to stop it, he knew. Not yet.

Grey: "So was this a pass or a fail? I feel like it was a fail..."

Grey noted the shards of glass still embedded in his side. He was bleeding badly, but he'd survive.

Janus: "It was a pass, Grey. Definitely a pass."

Janus looked back at Grey, who was still kneeling on the ground, and grinned.

"Now let's try to figure out what we're gonna tell the guys at the car rental place."

"I'm Fenrir, but you won't need to know my name, it'll be instict that will make you remember me."

Fenrir turned to leave, but he stopped his back still turned.

"Sometimes you can hold an entire planet's fate at the tip of your finger, but in truth, everyone who has ever lifted a weapon is weak. The tounge, the pen, the sword, the shield, all of them are weak, just as much as their users. Hold on for a while longer, you owe that much to Red, Blue, and Green."

Fenrir walked off without looking back, giong at a slow pace. Before anyone knew it, he was gone.

OOC: Fucking hell, man. I'm in like Flint if it's got that kind of stuff in it.

Janus: "That was too much..."

He sank to the ground, the power sealed back within him. There was no reason to use that kind of force, ever. He hated a part of himself for having that kind of fearsome force within him. On his hands and knees, Janus pounded the ground with his fist, tears streaming down his face.

"No matter what I do... I can't stop myself from hurting others..."

He kept sobbing, hating what lay within him, hating what he knew he'd have to do someday. There was no future for him, no matter how long he lived for. Time was just a constant, unwavering, unchanging, no matter what events he altered. That kind of power, no matter what it was, could not change the flow of time. It was a moment of weakness, for sure.

But then, he looked to Fenrir...

"You, please, before you go.... Tell me who you are. I've heard things from you I never should have heard, nobody should have known. It's thoughts like this that will tear a man apart. At least tell me who you are, so that I may remember your name when it all comes... If I'm still alive by then."

"Don't worry Janus, you've already saved him. Only one thing to do..."

Odin didn't move, he actually sheathed his sword as the blast came towards him. He let his hands hand limply at his sides.

"There is a true power, but immortality doesn't give it to you..."

Odin looked down at the ground as the blast swept over him, destroying the ground where he stood, everything around him, he should've been completely disentigrated, but as the attack passed over and light came back, he still stood... as best as one can after being hit like that. Odin was about to fall over, he may not have bunged an inch from the attack, but he knew he was lucky to be alive.

"The end you seek..."

Odin feel to his knee, feeling the wieght of the world slightly lifting, every attack he experienced he learned about, how to block or even counter it. Some attacks couldn't be blocked or countered, he had to take them head on, but he could weaken damage. It hadn't worked this time he knew. The attacks power was enough to kill him 100 times over if he had been trying to fight it.

"doesn't lie in life or in death... It is just hidden from your eyes, constatly right before you, tainting your judgement, making you run after it."

Odin stood up suddenly, a blue aura surronding him.

"No one realizes though, all they have to do is reach out far enough to grab it... Good luck Janus, you'll need it for what lies ahead. I'm still weak compared to what I could be, when I'm stronger I'll challenge you again, and then I'll see which of us is right. If power can only be obtained through life, or if it was always there."

Odin's aura glowed brillantly and flashed, he wasn't there when the flash subsided.

"So you beat Odin..."

Fenrir walked in from the side, his gun already held up.

"You're the first that has beat him... or at least made him run away. I believe I can trust you..."

Fenrir seemed to be a lot different then when he had planned to kill Grey if he interfered.

"***********~"

Fenrir sighed having told someone the truth about what the world was about to face, maybe not a threat on the universal scale, but it would matter to everyone who lived on the planet.

"We'll meet again."

Janus (thinking): "Well, not much choice here."

He recognizes the extreme danger in this situation: Grey will obviously die if nothing is done. But he didn't want to do this before he had to... Maybe he could just seal it back into himself when it was done, or something like that. It happened all the time in the books and movies.

Then again, the prospect of absolute power was a little tantalizing.

But why? The real question was why... Why would he give himself the power to destroy?

Philosophy... The words of that man came into his head again...

???: "Remember, Janus. We all have a power within ourselves. It is the power of gods. It is what keeps us apart from normal people."

Janus: "But aren't we gods?"

???: "In a way, yes. But there are many definitions of "god.""

Janus: "What is god to you, then?"

???: "God is power, to me. I hold that belief to be self-evident. Who has power has the respect and admiration, nay, worship, of whomever he or she sees. That is what god is."

Janus: "Then why are there several different gods?"

???: "Anyone can be a god, if they are able to find the ability to gain power."

Janus: "What about limits? What about potential and fulfillment?"

???: "There is no limit to potential. The only limit is what exists in your mind. The strongest men and women of the world recognize that they truly have no set potential. They learn whatever they can, and embrace it all, giving themselves power."

Janus: "So then, the ability to learn is power?"

???: "You could say that. The only limit to learning is death."

Janus: "So if you can't die, you have the potential for unlimited power."

???: "However far you wish to go..."

Janus: "I see. Thank you... Axel."

Janus' eyes opened wide, and a blue light glowed from them again! He spread his arms into his crucifix position again, rose several inches off the ground, and attempted something...

Janus: "God is power. To gain power, one must gain knowledge.
Knowledge is power. To gain knowledge, one must live.
Life is power. To live, one must not be afraid of death.
Therefore, to live eternally is to be among gods!
"

His entire body became enveloped again in brilliant luminesence! The light exploded outward, turning the blood-red sky from its crimson hue to a brilliant, unnatrual blue, with the combating forces mixing to form a sheet of purple that spread over the land....

Janus: "MESSIAH!!!"

The light faded, but only such that the world was visible again, for among the grass stood a renewed warrior. Again, no physical change was apparent, but somehow Janus seemed stronger, more serene and at peace, than before. His eyes were closed, but when opened, they glowed not.

"This is just a taste of the power the gods can attain... I'm not there yet. But as long as I live, I will only get stronger. What I really need to know, is if it has a point, an end to it all. Maybe that's why such powerful beings exist... They gain power simply to seek an end to the gain. But then again... Philosophical waxing isn't going to save Grey."

Janus bent his knees slightly and energy began to form in his weapon hand, as he passed Satchel to his left side. His right hand glowed slightly, getting brighter and brighter, until...

"But this might! Fist of the Grey Dawn!!!"

As he said this, Janus rushed madly toward Odin, his hand a glowing battery of energetic power! He closed inward on Odin, and set Satchel behind him, punching forward and releasing a torrent of energy at Odin with a loud yell! The blast spread to the size of a football field, and with a final radiation of raw power, faded into the distance, and all was darkness....

Odin blocked with his sword, somehow blocking it even with Janus' improved physical traits.

"You're still holding back, you can go farther, even if it has to be force."

Odin somehow managed to hold the hammer back, he pulled his sword away letting the hammer hit him in the chest with a loud clang. Odin skidded backwards a few feet, his helmet still covering his face after all this time. He lifted the helmet up, reveling a little blonde hair and the bottom of his face, he clapped the helmet back down on his head. Power began to build around him.

"This next attack isn't aimed just at you..."

Odin took his sword and stabbed it into the ground, the entire sky turning blood red.

"Watch out for your friend, because there is only one way to stop this and it isn't dodging."

Odin put more power into himself and then everything turned black, only two lights shined. One on Janus and one on Grey. Everything else was darkness.

"Ragnarok!"

The voice echoed and then Odin spoke again.

"You can't run, you can't hide. All you can do is break it, and only your true power will do that, hold back nothing if you want to walk away with your body intact."

Janus: "Argh!"

He is kicked backward, and Satchel is thrown from his arms as he skids along the ground.

"This guy... He's insane..."

Janus kicked upward and called Satchel back to himself, holding it in the air, straight above his head!

"Time to turn up the heat... White Light!!!"

A series of archaic symbols shone at Janus' feet, and from them a column of bright white light rose from the ground, enveloping the warrior!

"If you can't beat me..."

The light faded, and Janus looked the same, yet somehow different. He lowered his hammer, and showed just what the difference was by doing a short hop and disappearing, reappearing right next to Odin with an obvious physical improvement. He hopped again, disappearing and reappearing repeatedly at different locations around Odin's body, finally coming to a stop on his left side, and swiping outward horizontally, speaking the whole time...

"....Then how can you expect to save the world?"

"I'm going to train and fight to finish this once and for all!"

Odin yelled out in rage and grabbed the hammer, his shoulders and arms started to max out and his armor seemed to bulge. Odin tried to yank the hammer away while kicking upwards at Janus to to knock him away.

Janus: "I see..."

He backflipped away from Odin's powerful slash, and landed on a forward rush, slamming down hard with an overhead strike!

"So what are YOU going to do about it?"

"Yeah, its happened before, its going to happen again, and again, a continous cycle, but this time its different. This is the break in the cycle, technology has become to strong, enemies have become weak. This time the world will either become a heaven, a hell, or not change at all, but everyone will remember it."

Odin put more power into his sword, trying to get to Janus.

Bringing his hammer to bear with Odin's blade, the two fenced and sparred as Janus spoke...

Janus: "Key evil of the world? You mean all that stuff in norse mythology is... Real?"

Odin spun forward, turning around right as Janus was about to strike him. Odin blocked each attack with his sword, letting the hammer hit the side of the blade.

"Thats the key evil of this world, or at least the evil with the most power. He'll be the one that kills me and many others in a final battle. He won't win though, he'll die to, theirs no stopping fate."

Odin lashed out at Janus, trying to strike him as many times as he could.

"Many people will die and history will remember the day forever. Ragnarok will kill over half the worlds heroes it it is mild. Now fight me at your true power, you are holding back!"

Janus: "Then you'll be sadly disappointed!"

Blue radiance eminated from Janus' body as he held Satchel firmly in both hands, making slight swaying motions every few seconds.

Then, he was off! Janus dashed toward Odin, only to hop over his head and lash out with three horizontal swipes as he landed behind him. The difficulty was in tracking him with one's eyes--- he was moving fast enough to look like nothing but a blur... to normal people, anyway. Odin seemed like the type to follow through.

"Now who was that?"

"Damnit Fenrir, how did you find me so quickly, you shouldn't be around here."

"So thats why your protecting him."

Fenrir said it blunty and then aimed his gun upwards, fired and a blinding light exploded from the gun. 3 more shots were fired and then nothing. Fenrir had left in a flash of light of light.

Odin knew he was going to be shot at and had enough time to move out of the way before he became injured.

"Damnit Fenrir. You were never going to kill that detective, you were just trying to get a cheap shot at me. Still won't kill anything without a bounty..."

Odin looked up at Janus, he'd heard the entire conversation, but what impressed him is that he had been so fast.

"I knew you were holding back. Unleash your full power against me, I want to beat you at your best!"

Janus: "Bad move."

There was no split second between Janus' movement and his location behind Fenrir. He was just.... there.

"You're currently holding a gun to the head of the most powerful weapon in the world. If you fire, and he dies, we all die too. You sure you want to do that? Are you?"

Another instant and Janus was in front of Fenrir, gazing into his eyes with a piercing blue light.

"I'm not too worried about death, to me it's an adventure that I have no ability to travel alone. But you, you're young and mortal."

Janus gently grabbed the muzzle of Fenrir's gun and brought it upward, pointing it at his own head.

"And furthermore, I don't even know who you are. I'm about to be shot in the head by someone I have no clue about at all. I'm certainly not going to let him shoot Grey, anyway. Not if I don't know who he is."

Odin knew Janus spoke the truth, it was a sense he somehow picked up during his travels.

"Yes, there is one thing. I know you have been holding back, unleash your full power and I'll help."

Odin held his sword losely at his side, waiting for a responce in either power, or words.

"So, Odin is still letting everyone he fights use their full strength against him. To bad, he won't have the same liberty when I fight him."

Fenrir loaded his gun, and aimed it down at Grey, but didn't fire it.

"Just to stop interference, he tries anything, and a bullet will end his life. You better hope that he doesn't try anything Janus, because I don't need to obey the rules."

And the two weapons locked! Janus raised an eyebrow and grinned, having landed on his feet and caught the sword in the crook of his hammer. The metal handle was clenched tightly in both of his hands as he held fast against Odin's counterattack. More witty banter? With his meager strength, he certainly couldn't attack without getting a sword sandwich, so why not...

"Now then, let's talk. You're very powerful, probably every bit as powerful as me. You've been taught by some of the strongest warriors in the universe. I'll get straight to the point. I need guys like you."

His grip began to falter ever so slightly. Janus had to talk fast, or move fast, and he still ahdn't though of an escape from this yet...

"I scratch your back, you scratch mine. If there's anything I can do to get your help, just say the word."

An opening occured to him, but he wasn't ready for it yet. He slid the crook of his hammer ever so slightly closer to the hilt of Odin's sword.

"What do you say?"

Perfect positioning. Janus kicked his feet out beneath him, released Odin's sword, and somersaulted backwards a few times, springing to his feet and sending Odin back into his spin. When Odin stopped, he would see Janus standing lithely before him, holding his hammer straight outward.

"It's an offer..."

Odin could feel that his arm was about to break as he held onto the hammer and stopped everything from spinning. He knew he couldn't hold it through and instead matched it.

"Dragon Rush!"

Odin started spining holding his sword out, matching the hammer, except, the sword had a point and the hammer didn't.

Force matches counterforce as Janus tries to use his whirlwind technique while Odin's dragging him down. It'll be interesting, indeed, to see what happens when Janus attempts to whirl into a tornado while Odin's holding the hammer.

"Lets see how strong you are!"

Odin reached up and blocked the hammer with his hand! He barely budged under the strike, but the ground underneath him broke apart below him. He somehow managed to keep his balance and kept hold of the hammer. Odin's arm was under extreme stress, but he knew he could keep hold of the hammer if the strike was magnified by two.

"I'm disappointed, I thuoght you would be able to at least numb my hand."

Odin pulled the hammer down, trying to bring Janus to the ground, but as Odin swung down, he threw his knee upward, trying to smash his head against his knee.
